Uploading WAY faster than downloading

try testing the d/l speed at 3am....if it increases then the other tenants are using the bandwidth up....if its wired like that, that is a really really crappy way to do it. I wouldnt recommend more then one connection per household, let alone per the entire complex.
Call the apartment place and complain. maybe they can fix you up.
The thing to me that seems weird is not only is your upload rate faster, its a really good upload rate! That tells me you guys are sharing a alot of bandwidth but maybe one user is using up most of the download rate. You could have some jerk that figured the Apt. has a T1 and figured out how to get all the bandwidth now hes downloading movies 24/7....A call to the apt. complex and get a compenent guy out there to fix the problem.
Seems like a long shot but for a upload rate that high there should be a blazing fast download rate....

#3 I'm moving at the end of July, so I can deal with it for a little under two months.

Gotta love broadband.
Downloading some files for my youngest sons format this weekend.
That 491 kb transfer rate works out to:
491 devided by 5.6 (fastest a 56k dialup modem can download at)
to around 87.67 times faster than dialup.
And to think way long ago I saw no need to upgrade to broadband.

Just wanted to clear that up.
Oh yeah... and to offer some help on the situation... I would contact the person who administers the network and find out what the deal is. There'd have to be some serious usage in that area for your DL speeds to drop below your UL speeds. Sounds more like a hardware problem to me.

Just did my speeds with dial up and broadband at the same time.
For the desktop with broadband.
Download Speed: 2755 kbps (344.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 671 kbps (83.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
For the laptop with dial up.
Download Speed: 39 kbps (4.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 282 kbps (35.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Both upload really quick compared to others that posted on YT.
