Personal website not working 100% with Internet Explorer
Many many years ago I built my personal website www.pnw4runners.com/tando with Netscapes Composer, then touched up the pages later on with Front Page XP edition.
My page use to snap open fast, no snafus.
As of late like in the past 6 weeks or more, with Internet Explorer my page will lock up, then the Java driven virtual table of contents (TOC) will appear.
If you scroll down you will see it.
It is code implanted so it brings up that table of contents on every page, and if I want to update the TOC, I need only do one file, and not on every page.
Right now after IE gets done unlocking, usually 10 seconds or so after I bring up my index page, I have to double click the links in the TOC to get them to open.
This just started in as mentioned above.
Now if I use FireFox, no problemo.
My page snaps open lightening fast as it should.
Could it be one of Microsoft's updates they do every 2nd Tuesday of the month?
This happens on two of my XP PCs at home, and also at work with XP or Windows 2000.
But as mentioned, there is no problem at all with FireFox, with the exception of the yellow text marquee under my banner.
The marquee only shows up in IE.
Do you think it could have been a security update from MS that is causing this?
If anyone can take the time to look, please report back here what browser you are using, and if you are having the same problem I am with IE.
If using FireFox, let me know if the page opens normally.
Thanks,

That figures.
Uncle Bill releases an update that screws up pages made with his own software.
Guess I better make the switch from IE to FireFox.
I am about ready to give up on IE, although it displays more than FireFox.
On my audio page I have a movie embedded near the bottom of my stereo playing.
Works with IE, not with the Fox.
I think I will put a disclaimer on my site to view it with the Fox and not IE.

The site works okay here with IE ("here" = on campus, so more updates than you can shake a stick at!). In fact, under FF, the menu at the bottom is hosed - it shows as 5 blocks of 5 options arranged vertically, instead of the 5x5 grid under IE.
But, under FF, the menu options work with a single click, IE takes two (like you said).
Ya' know... one thing that could be causing your delay in IE is the startup of the Java Virtual Machine. How do you have it configured in IE? (Tools | Internet Options | Advanced | (scroll down) Java).
Also, the delay in IE will come very early in the rendering of the window since you have that "SP 1a/SP 1" warning banner at the top. I'd pull that anyway...
And yeah, this is XP.

6.0.2900.2180, ansd SP2 here with XP.
Mark, you say the TOC is messed up with your FF?
It looks just fine for me with FF, just as it does in IE, but it works with single clicks, like IE use to.
Also as you know, SP2 wipes out the MS Virtual Machine, hence my link on my site to install it.
However I have not ran it for awhile, I am running Sun Java, JRE 1.5.0_06 according to the info in IEs Tools/advanced area.

That's not the case with FF.

I have the old Virtual Machine files that were offered in that link on my site, but they are a pain to install.
There are like 3 or 4 of them, and I think you have to reboot between each install.
I am not even sure if they would still work.
Have not ran them since a few formats ago, and I do believe as the Wabbit mentioned earlier, an MS update to XP hosed my site and his.
