New kind of pop-up
I still use AIM as opposed a lesser bloated IM program such as Trillian. Never had any problems with it, as I keep it limited to the bare basics.
However, I noticed something surprising tonite. I was about to close down AIM, and the mouse pointer just passed over that advertisement on top of the buddy list. BAM, a pop-up shot up on my screen. At first I was confused to where it came from because I didn't have any browser pages open or email running or anything like that. After a few attempts to close AIM, I realized that just by having the mouse pointer pass over the ad, it triggered the pop-up. Seems like it's gonna be a whole new world of pop-ups to deal with.

AIM is notorious for these kind of ads. I really hate it when they play a movie trailer with really loud sound and you can't shut it off. Very annoying and a sure ticket for spyware and tracking cookies.

Chris, this is why I stopped using AIM over a month ago.
I have a post in this section somewhere.
The last update to AIM I could not get rid of their pop ups, so I installed Trillian, and I could never ever go back to using AIM again.
Trillian is way better, and no pop ups.
Plus with Trillian, you can use it with all of your IM accounts such as AIM, Yahoo, MSN...

I didn't really create the post to bash AIM, just to let you guys know of a new kind of "mouse-over" pop-up. If AIM can use it, why can't other websites. That could make for some very frustrating web browsing. I guess the pop-up blocker would stop it though, right?

I got it and it got rid of the add's all together, it's pretty cool
