Laptop keeps getting infected

My laptop keeps getting infected with Trojans and major spyware every time I use it. I am having to run Spyware Doctor and Spyware Terminator every couple of hours because the infections slow the laptop down so much. Everytime I run them they catch dozens of infections. I also run
Pop-up Stopper because I kept getting pop-ups even though I run IE-7 pop up blocker. I also run CCleaner every 2 days. This started happening about 7 days ago and it is getting worse.
Please help.

Where are you connecting to go on-line? it sounds like if you are connecting through a server the server is infected...

Paul, did you have spyware before awhile back?

Sounds like you may need to format.
Try first Spybot Search & Destroy, a free app.

Whatever you are using now is not getting rid of it all.

What anti virus app are you using?
I use Grisoft AVG, the paid version, but I hear the free one works pretty good too.

the very best thing you should do is download a trial copy of kaspersky internet security and install it.
You get 30 days free, this is enough to see if you like it, it will eliminate your issues.
I work in a computer lab at a university with lots of important clients, the university as a whole uses another program, but we have been using kaspersky for 3 years and it has kept us CLEAN. I use kaspersky at home too on my windows box and have it on my mac running windows in a virtual machine, and I have never had 1 single infection ever. It frequently finds trojans, keyloggers, spyware, and eliminates them fast. also it updates virus definitions every hour.

I have used Norton in the past and consider it bloatware and dislike it intensely.
hope this helps

Aviator, I am on Roadrunner from Time Warner Cable. My desktop has no issues so I know its not them.
Corey, I had some but not like this. Itreally got going about a week ago. I use Avast anti-virus.
I will try spybot and if it doesn't help, I will try tailowaza's approach.
Thanks for the quick help.

I have not been on porn in years. But I did get Limewire and I believe that is where I got infected. So after spending 2 hours yesterday running ccleaner, spybot, and a few others repeatedly, I hope it is finally cleared up. Seems to be running normal now. By the way, when I first ran spybot, it picked up a bunch of spyware and when I tried to remove it, a blue screen came up and telling me my computer was infected and will shutdown to protect itself and then I had to reboot. it did this 2 times before the computer returned to normal.

Paul, Spybot did that to me when I cleaned up an infected work PC.
Not Boeing, but the outfit I worked at before I got my recall.

Another excellent spyware app is SpySweeper.
It is what I use in conjunction with AVG antivirus.

I used both of those awhile back to clean my X wife's husbands laptop.
Thread is in this section.

It had tons of trojans and spyware, it is still free from it from when I cleaned it.

I dont use any anti virus of firewall..I have a win xp machine on roadrunner turbo, havent had any virus protection or firewall installed in well over a year and havent had a single problem.. i use spybot, and always leave teatimer running(an option in spybot),and always keep my immunization(another option in spybot)up to date.. it will not aloow any changes unless you ok them, also i do an ONLINE virus scan at kasperky, samantec, or some other reputable website...(bit defender is my favorite) at least once every 2 weeks, also stay up to date with microsoft updates. You will find lots of viruses on Limewire.. I prefer to use bit torrent.. not that you wont get anything there..but as i said..i have had no probs in over a year...goodluck

one tip, turn off the SYSTEM RESTORE when scanning and finding viruses...

SR will just put the files back on, especially if the files were deposited in the windows directory...

FYI, AVG Free v. 8.0 was released today and has a few new anti-scumware features that should help.

I'm also using AVG and MS Defender. The latest v. of Defender is far faster than before, and has real-time protection like SpyBot and SpySweeper but with auto updates.

I also scan with free web-based Trend Micro weekly as another layer of protection, and clean the Registry at the same time with Easy Cleaner and CC Cleaner, both freeware apps.

BT17R, AVG 8.0 is finally what cleaned up my laptop. I had tried more than 10 different free or trial apps. all to either no avail or they would just freeze up. I finally upgraded AVG and then ran it and my laptop is now running fast and perfect like before.

Yeah you want to be careful folks there is a new bug running around [at least I think its new] mascarading as MS privacy protection/anti-virus crap... my dad clicked to accept it last week sometime and that openned up a can of crap so large... Norton won't recognize it and everytime you try to delete it it re-installs/re-launches itself so you end up with 50+ copies of IE open and the computer basically frozen from overload... [even if you completly disconnect the modem lol] I tried running norton, removing the visible manifestations of the program from the computer [short cuts and start menu connections], ran adaware, ccleaner, to no avail and you could'nt get to the net for kaspersky or anything else because the virus would lock up the connection and try to send itself everywhere else... basically a zombie virus... ended up sending the boat anchor out to a shop he should get it back in a few days...

going to try this AVG 8.0 free ware see if that gives him some more protection... can you get it from filehippo?

That is even newer than mine, and I have the paid version of AVG.
Mine is 7.5.

My app though does not have a spyware remover in it, it is mainly just antivirus.
Oh wait, it does have a checkbox to look for some spyware automatically, but not like a full blown spyware app like I use, SpySweeper.

Glad it is working Paul.

And to Paul (Aviator) that sounds like some crazy virus/malware action going on there.
