Feeler: Powerbook G4 15 inch

I am thinking about selling my powerbook g4. Here are the specs:
1.67ghz G4 Processor
1.5GB ram
100gb 7200rpm hard drive
15 inch screen with upgraded graphics card (128mb graphics ram)
bluetooth, airport wireless
Superdrive dvd burner
firewire 400/800
usb 2.0
backlit keyboard

Would include all original disks/cables and manuals, also 2 wall chargers. PC Card slot memory reader. I would also include a disk with all the updates. EDIT: Would also include iLife 06

Its in perfect condition, brand new battery, and still covered under warranty. Also still have the original box. Only 9 months new

Would be asking around $2100 obo. (thats what they are going for on ebay) Let me know if you are interested, or what you think about the price. I am trying to get as much for it as I can, since I am purchasing another computer for college.

Remember, this isnt for sale yet, just seeing if there is any interest for it. Payment would be using paypal (if there are any other ideas here on payment, let me know, I have never sold something this expensive online before). I can take pictures if anyone wants them.

Thanks!

ebay it...mac computers always go for a lot

doesnt it boggle your mind that your laptop has a resale value? Only with a mac does that happen. I could sell my ibook for almost as much as I paid for it.

Personally, even though my family owns over 10 macs, I can't see myself buying a refurb comp, especially a laptop. Nothing against you, but laptops have a huge tendency to scratch and dent etc. I suggest eBay, itll prolly match 2100.

Also, I think 2100 is a tad high even more a maxed out G4. You can spend just a bit more and get an MBP (MacBook Pro) and it's supposedly got as much power as a G5. My 2kilobytes

Yea I know it is a little high, but trying to get as much as I can for it. Brand new it was around $3000. It does come with a lot of extras/software, so hopefully that will help with the price. This laptop is in "like new" condition, has been sitting on my desk most of the time, and I have always taken great care of it, not one scratch on the case

I think there is still a lot of interest for G4's, as the MBP's have been having a some problems (hopefully mine will be fine though )

Just wanted to see if anyone on here was interested first, then I'll put the auction up on ebay when I am sure my MBP is free of problems.

From what I've read, if you take care of the MBP, it'll take care of you. :-) I also think that the MBP problems are a bit bloated (Heard the saying "one bad apple ruins the bunch"?) A few peoples problems aren't problems for everyone in the world. I really like the Macs, just for the sheer ingenuity the developers had hardware and software wise.

Well, my MBP is in the process of being replaced. It had a weird speaker hiss at bootup, and the processor had a LOUD whine. I heard a lot of people complaining about heat, lol. Its a powerful computer, what do you expect?? Anyways, if the replacement still has problems, I might just go for the 17 inch model. I guess I would have to get used to the large size, I can also forget using it on a plane. lol

What size is your current one? I was always partial to the 15" model after using a 17" for a while. The 17 is just... huge. It definitely serves a better purpose on a desk with semi-easy transportation. I hate using my laptop on a plane (most of the flights ive been on were trans-atlantic) because the person next to you almost always just sits there watching you... i cant stand it. It's not bad if you're with family though.

My current one is a 15 inch, mostly sits at my desk at home or at work, and I take it on vacations/ on the plane. But I only use it on a plane maybe twice a year, so its not that big of a problem.

$2100 is too high. Even back when this thread started you could get a 1.83 ghz MBP for <$1800. Why would anyone pay more for a slower (G4) machine? It's true it's a great computer and still extremely capable, but that still doesn't make it worth $2100. Ebay it and let the market decide what it's worth.

I did not sell it online. a friend of mine is going to buy it for $1500 though.

On another note, once you get the MB, let me know. I have a program that gets rid of the whine shortens battery life a little. I have not heard of many MB/MBP without the whine.

Cool,
I'll ask my roomie (He's looking at houses in CA) if he is getting the wine... or the whine for that matter
