If you live in one of the above listed cities or states and do not automatically receive the speed upgrade on January 26th, please powercycle your cable modem. If you currently subscribe to the $10 Add-On For Speed package, your downstream and upstream will increase respectively from 4Mbps/384Kbps to 6Mbps/768Kbps."
I tested pre and post modem reset here and showed 4,384.7 kbps d/l. Pretty good, almost back to the good old days of 5,000+ from a few years ago! I'm tempted to try the Add-On package, but for $10/month I currently have no need. Maybe when hi-def streaming video arrives, but by then it might be free.

Yeah I saw that on the Comcast forum at DSL Reports.

I am due around the end of March I think.
Still at 3 mbit down, and 256 kb up for right now.
Yes, the good old @Homeless days of 5 to 6 mbit down was unreal.

When I used to live in MD I had @home then Comcast and it was great, I liked both and never had a problem with either....Now all I can get is DSL and they took my Business DSL away from me, even though I was paying more.....oh well, at least I can get something....
I'll tell you though, next house I buy one of the most important factors is gonna be that I can get cable internet....or VDSL if its availible to residents at that time, highly unlikely but something to hope for....

Most Comcast cable users here get d/l speeds around 3,000 kbps, and I did until last week. After eliminating all scumware, virii and performing system software and firmware updates, I'd run the tweak test on this site and follow the prompts to speed things up. Then retest from the above link and let us know how you did.
