Bringing to the top again...

OK, any interest in this old game from '99 still?
Just to show you how much fun it can be, I downloaded a trial version of Fraps, a gaming video and screen capture application.

The demo only lets you record up to 30 seconds, but as soon as you punch your hot key (F8 on mine) the next vid will go.

I made 8 AVI videos at 2.9 GB with the app playing a multiplayer bout a bit ago, and used Microsoft's Movie Maker software to stitch all 8 together into one file, and compressed it to 150 KB format, and it came out to under 5 MB.

Click here to view the video.
Right clicking to save it first then play it back would work best.

There is some performance lag when running the app in a game, but I really do not notice it when playing back the video, so that is good news.

However since the video is compressed quite a bit, it does come out grainy.
I tried saving it at a better 340 KB format, but it was over 11 MB, and I wanted to keep it smaller.

For an old game, this games still kicks ass, and on a good 5.1 surround sound system with subwoofer, it will rock your world.
And yes, I got killed a few times in the game, but I can still hold my own

Another comparison if anyone is thinking of upgrading to UT 2004.
The graphics are much better than the older UT, and you have the ability to hit the F11 key and bring up a MP3 player.

With it you can create play lists that will play any MP3 you have on your PC.

This time I stitched together about 11 AVIs from 4.15 GB down to a 6 MB WMV file, so it is a bit grainy at the resolution I saved it at.
This Fraps software is pretty cool.

It would be fun to get some tournaments going sometime with members and recording a full vid with the full featured Fraps instead of the demo.
Click here to see a 6 MB movie of UT 2004.
