Radioshack TRC-241

so a guy at work has one of these:

its a Radioshack TRC-241 40 Channel, 5-watt hand held CB

hes gonna lend it to me, but if i like it he'll sell it to me for $50.

Its for sale new for $100. I won a cobra on ebay but the seller said he was actually out of stock or something and gave me my money back.

Any good?

shouldnt be too bad.... but if you do decide to get it permanently, look into connecting it to an external antenna, the rubber ducky antennas hand helds come with a poor performance, they jsut dont have the capability to transmit or receive that far... and its like an 8" antenna, when you htink about the fullsize cb antennas, those things are huge in comparison....

I have the same. After some usage the on/off switch has become unreliable.

IMO, if you are going to wheel regularly, invest in a "real" hardmounted CB w/ a good quality antenna. That thing won't have any range if you really need it.

I've got a similar one. I used it quite awhile before I got an in-dash CB. I had an external mike, window mounted antenna and dc power. Range was limited, so I could only here a few vehicles infront or in back of me.
