Is that not cool or what? I havent found that many reviews on it but it is a cobra and its new and best of all ...> black chrome!

 

It looks just like the night watch just black crome. If I am correct they are very popular and well built

 

Cobra 29's of old were the s$$t these new ones are not quite the same but still a desent radio. Shop around and I bet you can find that cheaper try the truck stops and cb shops aaround your area before you jump on that one.

 

Its not a nightwatch (no illuminated switches) its just a 29LT in Black Chrome. Nice and a good price. Good radio. BTW they now have a 29 with bluetooth capabilities. Real cool got to play with one a few weeks back but for the price tag ($300) I'd buy a Galaxy 33.

 

I prefer to get a Panasonic personally, that has nice looks though.

 

Panasoic? never heard of them making cbs

 

I think this one will match up good with my rig since its black and its a model thats been around for a while. Which cb you think this is comparable to within this class?

go with the 5000. (You can't go wrong with a Wilson or K40, love them both).

Panasonic's are awesome radios, just not as available in the US (due to our 4 watt power limit and frequencies) as Cobra, Galaxy, Uniden, and Connex. (Note: I know I missed Midland and I missed it for a reason)

 

Since UNIDEN took over CORBRA not really sure if the quility has got better or worse but it should still be a fairly good radio but if you can find an older 29 LTD and swap the chassie's you can have the look and the better radio or have the body of the older one powder coated anodized black and get the black face cover you will get the same look with the better quility radio

That said this will apply to both newer and older 29's but I think I would try to find a 29 LTD it has a black case just not a shiny black case and you can pick one up thats been tuned and peeked for around 50-75 bucks at a truck stop from a driver selling one..

if you get that radio and have tweeked and peeked get some uppers and lower thrown in it add the Wilson 5000 5' fiberglass you should have a really nice set up for around 200.

The tweek and peek should get you around 20-30 watt and swing upto around 50 watts with the upper and lowers you can slide 10k between two channels above or below So you can really talk on channel 19 1/2 above or below 19 for a bit more of a private channel if your buddies have the uppers and lowers as well.

I will decide in the next couple weeks which route i will go but i wanted to show you guys how i plan on monting it. I do not like cb's mounted low so the only place it can go is up under the sunroof. Actually, directly to the sunroof via rtv silicone/ witha piece of plexiglass. Then mount the cb bracket to the plexiglass. Kinda like this i did in paint>

Do you think plexiglass stuck to the glass bonded with rtx will create a sufficient bond?

I know this stuff is very strong, what do you guys think?

 

doubt it will hold (I'm more worried about the glass breaking it if the radio knocks it or bounces too much)

Side bands and a tweek and peak are always a good idea. (Had my Uniden 68LTW done when I bought it new.) Cobra still makes a great radio, but they also make a lot of cheap ones now too (General rule of thumb is if it costs less than $100 new and stock its not worth it)
