WOW... "you go girl!"

The Tech test is still no-code after the change a few years ago, right? And then Tech Plus opens up a higher band but requires 5wpm?

I really have to get back into this... eek.

Good job on getting your ticket! So, have you used it much since May? There are a lot of good repeaters in the Bay Area.

No, I haven't used it at all. I still don't have a 2m antenna. Too many truck repairs before money can get allocated for the antenna too .

Just a FWIW bit of info. They are lifting the code requirement; essentially doing away with it. Most other countries already have. This will open up the hf bands to many more hams. I am studying for my general now. I wasn't going to bother while code was required. Not sure of the exact date; but soon.

Fishunter I'm going the same already passed the general and extra written and just waiting for the new rules to go into effect. I dunno about up there but alot of the old timers are really HOT about the code going away. Personaly I welcome it after being a tech for over 11 years. I already got the 4runner ready for HF with a ICOM 706 and a 102" whip with a AH-4 autotuner for 40-6 meter coverage. Will post picutures soon. Also you are in for a treat trying to run HF in a 3rd gen 4runner the RFI is horrible. If anyone is going to do this drop me a line and will give you the full run down on all the secrets to stomping out the RFI. Stock I was getting killer RFI on 20 meters to 6 meters but was able to get knock it down to below S-1.
