scanner antennas

im installing a scanner into my 3rd gen. im a volunteer firefighter, i carry a 2way radio when im home, but now that im away at school i want to be able to hear all the local police fire and EMS radio traffic. the easiest option i have found so far is a through the glass antenna cause its got the widest range it works on. low band up tp 800mhz. anyone got any suggestions on good scanner antennas.

You don't need to wory about having a perfecly tuned antenna, any service in your imediate call area is going to have a powerful enough signal to come thorugh just fine.

Just pick one thats cheap, easy to mount and works with your rig.

I once used a radio shack magnetic mount which works great! (The one with the two coils on it). I also once used a gutter mount on the hood which worked great too, but thats if you want an extra antenna near your AM/FM antenna.

I use the thru the glass right now...it doesnt work too bad for me but I am in an area with no mountains, and very few if any agencies still use low band, etc.
