3rd generation 4 Runner CB install and tuning

Hi

I bought a Radio Shack CB - it cost about 130 and is a copy of the Cobra one that goes for 150. Seemed to be a good deal, main thing I wanted was the real time NOAA wave and sea reports (as I am a surfer)

I bought the dual fire stick antenna that they sell, so it uses a 1 into 2 cable, I ran it all last night, hooked it up and it works great, however there didnt seem to be anyone on the radio? I get all the NOAA reports but didnt seem to hear people talking, only faintly on other channels, it was 1130pm on a Monday, maybe that is a factor.

I was wondering how I may tune the system, I am new to CBs and appreciate any input you can offer.

Tonight a new CD player with my IPOD goes in!

Soon a front locker / ARB set up

Thanks in advance, Tim

woah!

just went out for lunch and used the CB some more, good reception and a bunch of people on

I would recommend a set up like this (not that I know what I am talking about)

I get all the surf/sea reports and people were on, talking in towns quite a distance from me and I hear them fine.

Glad to hear it worked for you..

Another option is a "scanner" type radio (but there may be legal issues with a scanner in a car).

Better is to get a Ham license and a Ham radio... talk to people around the world, get Fiji surf reports from Boston

I run a coax splitter for my "scanner" and as long as you don't run the cb you get weather, cops, coast guard and marine freq
