Post Wanting to add 2 extra speakers to my 91 4Runner.

Any Ideas? I'm looking to add 2 JBL GTO speakers 6-1/2" i just got from boxing day sales and I'm not sure where I should add them to my truck.

As it stands, i currently am running 4-1/2" Alpine Type R in the front and 5-1/2" Apline Type R speakers in the rear factory locations and 2 JBL 12" Subs with custom box.

So now i want to know any good ideas as to where to add these new monsters to my system?

My thoughts so far:
Above tailgate like 93+ 4Runners
Rear Doors
Dash
Pro's? Con's?
Other neat ideas?
Pics would be great if you have done something.

Thanks, Phyl

I have a sr5 ute and it had no room at all for speakers, only two 4". In dash. Now I have 9 in places around the cab, I also got some 6x9" behind the seats, they work well.

I like the whole putting it on the back door since no one really said anything about putting them above the tail gate like the 93+ 4Runners. i dont want too many speakers in the front.

those would sound 100x's better if you closed that speaker housing up on the back, just FYI

get a 1st gen 4runner rollbar, retro it to fit in the cargo area, then make a set of pod speakers.

or scan craigslist til you find a deal on some wakeboard boat tower speakers....

I think that if you already have the roll bar mod done that looks like it would be the easiest and one of the better solutions style wise too

IMO, those 6.5s should be in the front doors. making an enclosure for them shouldnt be that difficult and will sound waaaaay better than those 4'' you got there now. a little bit of creativity, fiberglass, and bondo go a long way. haha

I got 2 sets of 6.5 hifonics 500 watts in my front doors, not really that great of a speaker, 3 pairs of tweeters up front, factory 4 inch speakers, boxes, amp, in the back got the factory speakers, boxes and amps, factory tweeters above rear window, a 2300 watt Power Acoustik 4 channel for the tweeters and the 6.5's and a Rockford Fosgate T1500.4 for my 2 Kicker 15 L7's each in a 4.5 cubic foot slot port box. Upgraded charging system and added 2 yellow tops for more power. It is one loud system, I will post pictures when I finish my new door panels. Should have it done this weekend. I hope.

Well I'm getting all great idea's for where to put them, so now it's down to a choice between front doors, back doors or somewhere up high in the cargo hold.
