i just got an 01 tacoma xtra cab and have a sub and amp leftover from my jeep that i traded in. my headunit is the stock one with the CD/Cassette player. what my question is does that have pre-outs on it for me to hook the amp up too?? i figured if i don't have to buy an aftermarket headunit i won't. sorry if this is a stupid question....i'm a noob to yotas

 

Nope. Your OEM deck doesn't have pre-outs. Chances are, you amp will accept speaker level inputs.

you will need to buy a hi-low converter

 

I ended up buying hi-low converter and it works well. The sound won't be as good as using just RCA's but you don't really need that crisp of a signal if you are just running subs.
