I bought a new headunit, I got a Sony CDX-F5700... Well I orginally had the HUGE CD/Tape player in my 4Runner (2 DIN size)...

So my question is what did you do for the hole? I have about a 2.25"x7" hole in the dash, so what did you do?

 

both toyota and metra sell a "pocket" for that unused hole.

Put a CB in it.

 

Search eBay or Crutchfield for a pocket... I got mine on ebay cheap and looked good.. until I took it out for lcd. I'll sell it to you cheap, but my Runner is a 97, dont know about fit.

 

stick a tilt gauge in there

 

go to an auto parts store or walmart and buy a dash kit to fill the space.

 

You could goto the junk yard and get the plastic bin that came on 4Runners with single din radios.
Crutchfield.com sent a plastic bin (to install under the radio) with my order of a single din radio...maybe they would sell you just the plastic piece (mine was free with the order.)

well if its a sony i think wallmart sells those so just go to wallmart and buy a sony instalation kit for a toyota i bought would for mine i think i paid about 12 bucks for it but it comes with screws and you just atach it to the cd player and it will fit perfect good luck
