Maximum Amp draw is 115Amps for that model.

What ever fuse-size you plan on using, use that as your guide x 14.4 volts, figure out what the wire size recomendation is, then go one step bigger. Its cheaper to buy wire once, than it is to buy it twice. :pat:

another thought, are you ever going to add another amp back there ?

youll save big bucks using Welding cable instead , make some phone calls to the Welding supply companies. As mentioned dont forget to upgrade your grounding wire at the battery going to the body. Make sure you use grommets in all metal passages and use a fuse at the battery too.

Car fires are not fun, neither are amps that run too hot, break down and have to be sent in for repair (which usually means 1-2 months wait time)

It seems that more people than I know the secret to buy kick @$$ power wires for amps. Welding Cable/ wires is the way to go. From what I know they conduct better than regular power wires

Get the right wiring kit, I used 4gauge for my 1800watt amp.
Get a 1.5 farad cap, look on ebay they'er really cheap.

For some reason I never needed a cap, with my AC, neons, and amp on my head lights never dim. I have a 2 farad Tsunami cap, but I havent really gotten the time to install it.

You can always get an extra battery for your amp, but you'll need to recharge it. If your also getting the high of wattage you might want to consider getting a aftermarket battery.

I dont know why, but it seems I have a heavy duty Alternator in my 4runner, its never struggled so far.

I can have my heater all the way up, my high beams will be on, all my interior lights & neons are on, and my system is pumping as loud as it gets.
No dimming, my bass sounds sharp, and hits every beat. Oh and my cell phone would be charging too.

I dont do this offten at all, its not like I'm trying to burn my alternator.
Do 4runner limited's come with heavy duty alternators or something?
I would think with all that stuff goin on at least my lights would dim.

your lucky that your not having problomes with your system. When I was not into my sounds I had a decent enrty level setup. Its was 2 10" Boston Acoustics with a JBL 300 watt amp. No cap and no optima battery. And when it was turned up part way, the lights would flicker.

I checked my alternator many times, and its not that. anyone have a write up on upgrading the alternator wires on the 3 gen 3.4L????

Talking

Oh ya, I found that putting cardboard behind your license plates help with the rattle.

I have little to none for distortion, the only rattle or noise that I get is from the rear window, or other car windows from cars next to me rattling.

Mr. Fink, I am running 4 guage from the battery back to under my rear seats.

From there I have 2 x 8 guage wires going out to the two amps I am running.
I think that will work for you.

Make sure you fuse the heavy guage wire no more than 18" from your battery.
I use a 100 amp circuit breaker instead of a fuse.

Well...I talked to the Roadshop manager at work today and he's gonna hook me up with everything I need. This guys really knows his stuff too, I'm gonna end up getting a 2 farad cap and I'm gonna run either 2 or 4 gauge with it...I'm going up there tomorrow sometime to get him to help me place some orders, its kind of a pain to place orders when you're getting a discount but for about 60% off its WELL worth it!

I really appreciate ALL the help, its amazing the vast amount of knowledge on this site...this site just plain rocks, I cant say it enough!

Fink

I am running a Cap the Bat cap is cap 4 is capable of handing 200 amps which I think is about 2000 watts. And for some reason, my system rejects it. I need to figure this out. I want to enter a Db sound off next time they have one here in Hawaii. Thanks for the sugestion, Bike4miles, but that was my old system and its long gone. My sig describes my new setup
