Navigation System Hacks

I have a 2004 4-Runner with Nav system. My problem is that while driving I can't for example put in addresses or list any restaurants..., so I have to stop the car all the time. Even with a passenger in the car, it is useless until I stop. Is there a fix/hack anything I can do? The same problem is with the audio system in regards to messages that shows artist/song name etc, it is all blocked out until I stop the car. This is driving me nuts, every time I hear a good song and want to se who it is, I have to stop...

Anyway, any help will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,

Jens

Actually its probably illegal in your state to have it opperate otherwise. Nevertheless, most nav systems require a wire ran to the parking brake. You would probably need to ground this wire.

There was someone on here a few months ago that installed a Toyota Nav system in his 4Runner. Dig up that thread and shoot him an email...I bet he could point you to the correct wire...

There is a way to do it .. There is one wire that you have to leave unattached in order to keep the screen on ... at least thats how it was on my alpine system.

Thank you for your suggestions, and I will look into the wire right away. I saw on some of the 04 4-runners when I test drove them, that it worked, so I am very confused why mine is not.

Thanks again,

Jens

Thanks for your suggestion. Do you know what color the wire was?

Take care,

They all work the same way, do a search on clublexus.com a GX owner pulled his whole dash to rewire his Nav so he could view DVD while driving.
