My System Install

In the last week I decided to install new door speakers, XM radio, and a 4 channel amp. I previously had a Alpine headunit, monoblock amp, and 2 10" subwoofers.

This last install finally wrapped the system up. The bass is very tight and hits very hard. I am not a person that likes that annoying drone sounding bass. I like my music to be very accurate and precise. This is the system that did it.

First of all, I would like to just say that the install was fairly easy. The old mono amp was installed by a professional shop and my install looked much better. That was a big shocker for my first install.

I don't have any pictures of the actual wire routing and directions on how exactly I did it but you can ask questions if you need to.

Here is my complete setup:

Alpine CDA-9856
Fullspeed iPod Cable
Terk XM Adapter
XM Direct
JBL GTO607C 6.5" 2-WAY Component Speaker - 70W RMS [front]
JBL GTO527 5-1/4" 2-WAY Coaxial Speaker - 45W RMS [rear]
JL e1400d Monoblock Amp - 400W
JL a4300 4Channel Amp
2 JL 10W1V2 Subwoofers in JL Box

Many of you may look at those numbers and say, "Hey, that isn't very much power" All I can say is that your ears will be ringing at 1/2 volume.

The pictures:

Did you use the stock locations for the tweets?

whitey13, Yes, I did use the stock locations for the tweeters. Believe it or not, you can really tell a difference over the stocks.... a very large one.

bballchrism, thanks for the compliment. And yes, it does sound very nice and still has lots of bass if you need to show someone up.

I plan on upgrading the 2 subwoofers to just 1 W7 soon. The W7 line is more capable of hitting lower frequencies versus these 2 10". That doesn't mean the 10"s sound bad at all, its just my preference.

Next thing on my list is to dynamat the doors and everywhere it rattles. These speakers push some serious Wattage over stock.

Thanks again.

Had a 12w7 until it was stolen a few months back and since have upgraded to a 13.5w7 and for the love of God it is magnificent. The sound is so full and i am powering it with a 1000/1 with a monster power capacitor. Let me know if you upgrade, i know of a few places with low prices!

My friend had the same setup in his Legend. Truely a rediculous combo! He actually blew it playing poor quality (read:bootleg) CD's, but it was replaced under warranty.

I won't have the money for awhile to get a whole 1000/1 and 13w7 setup like I want but until then, I am looking for some W3's to mess with.

Whitey13, you have PM

I agree...JL makes great stuff

I have 2-12W6's in a jl powerwedge box. that thing POUNDS. I have to turn the gain on my amp all the way down. Its actually too much for me. I would be satisfied with 1-12w6 or even a 10W7 to save space.

Wow, thanks for all the comments. I haven't been watching this thread.

Since I have posted this. I have upgraded the subs to 2 10W3v2's. I upgraded my amp to a JL 500/1. I have also added a Rockford Fosgate capacitor. The headlights used to dim like a strobe light before the cap. Now it isn't near as bad.

JL ftw!
