iPod Model Differences?

I'm looking to buy an iPod, but am confused. Can someone explain the basic differences between them all? I found out theres an original, nano, shuffle, mini... WTF? I've been trying to read about them all, but theres a lot of sales/advertisement garbage to weed through. Help.

Size and capability are the differences.
Shuffle- has no display screen and limited in its memory
The nano- has a screen and is capable of holding a large amount of data and songs
The mini- isnt produced anylonger (I have this one and love it)
The ipod- larger screen and more storage capability
The ipod "touch Screen"- touch screen interface and larger screen

I guess mainly for music. I just don't want to have to upgrade to another one soon. I was looking on ebay so if the iPod mini is a good one, I can still buy that.

I got a Sansa Clip and really like it. Was a piece of cake to download music to it. It is only 1GB. Holds about 220 songs. If I had to do it again though I would get a 2 or 4 GB one. Earphones that cam ewith it suck though.

A review on the Zune
http://www.maximumpc.com/article/microsoft_zune_8gb

I have a 30 GB iPod video I got back in early December of '05.
I like it a lot, and iTunes is simple to use and buy your music from too.

i have a nano and i like it because its small enough to fit in my pocket easily, but i dont really like the shuffle because there is no screen and they are just too small.

I've put quite a few hours on my iPod 30g over the last 2+ years and am very happy with it but I might upgrade to an 80g (now under $250 at some places) so I can fit all my music on it;right now I've got 4600 songs on mine but I need room for another couple hundred CDs plus new music.

The iTouch is pretty cool but still high priced and minimal storage (8 or 16g) and really only useful for the internet feature over a basic iPod. I like being able to operate my iPod w/o having to look at it.

I love my 60GB iPod. and I loved my 15 GB before that. the onlt thing I miss about my 15GB that my 60GB doesn't have is firewire support because my computer doesn't have USB 2.0 so the firewire was super fast compared to the USB I have to use now.

I would get an ipod classic, 80 gigs of music and videos. I have a 4th gen 20gig and love it, it is pretty much full, and i have another 30 gigs in videos i could put on, so for me the classic would be perfect.

If you have the money and not alot of music, then go touch.

I just picked up an 8Gb Nano to use in my '85 off the JVC radio w/ Ipod adapter. Main goal was to replace the vibration sensitive CD changer with something impervious to the off-road bumps. So far works great, dumped my entire CD collection on it and you can do playlists and all the other Ipod playback functions.

My iPod has also proven durable as it has been used nearly every day for over 2 years and most of that was hooked to my hip and has been banged around and dropped more than a few times but the padded DLO case it's been in since new has earned it's worth.

I just bought a 4 GB iPod Nano yesterday after having the 2 GB one that was the generation before that. I have about 2000 songs total on my computer, most of which I don't listen to anyway, so this iPod is perfect for me. I don't want to get one of the Touch ones because I work construction, and listen to my iPod a lot, and the Touch seems to be a little bit flimsy IMO.
