How to wire in additional speakers?

I plan on installling 6 inch pioneers into the door of my 86 pickup. How do I wire those into the wiring harness?

you should be able to look at the old speakers that you are taking out and take note of which wire is hooked up to the positive side, and which goes to the negative side. then just connect them to the new speaker

Unhook your dash speakers and run new wires from the doors to the speaker outputs on your deck.

If you are using a harness for your stereo, I'd use the stock speaker wires. Just see which colored wires go where. Sometimes, the wires will work on either positive or negative. I don't know why the factory does that. If you hook up negative to positive, the only thing that will happen is the speaker won't turn on or it will make a distorted sound. If you don't have the harness to your deck, just run new wires. It's really easy.

if you hook them up backwards (positive wire to negative on speaker and vice versa), it will make the speaker fire out of phase from the other speakers if the others are hooked up correctly. this is done in some home stereo setups and a few car stereo setups, but 99% of the time, you want your speakers firing in phase, as you'll get the most output from it this way...

Lol.. I agree. I was just telling him this in case he wasn't sure which wire went to which speaker lead, so he can tell if it's wired properly or not. And to not worry about hooking up the wrong wires, because it won't really damage the speaker while testing.

oh yeah, just for trying 'em out, it won't hurt them...that reminds me of a guy who came into the local audio shop one day saying that his speakers weren't as loud as they used to be after he put in a bigger amp. turns out, he had them wired out of phase...haha! big time noob mistake on his part...
