Headunit help

I wanted to get some of your advice on a head unit for my 93 pickup. I went to a few places and its hard to get honest answers from people working on comission.

I want a good head unit that doesn't skip with extremely scratched cd's or on road bumps. I also would like it to have an auxillary ipod connection or someway to connect the ipod DIRECTLY to the head unit....no fm transmitters etc.... Who makes a good head unit with what Im looking for? $200-350MAX range....

I will be running 2 6.5" speakers in the doors and thats it. Whats the largest speaker that fits in these doors? I think I can cut the glass to make 6.5's fit if I had to since I could almost fit 6x9's but dont want them.

Whats a good speaker that produces nice sound that isnt high in treble with decent bass? $100-250max range....

I was looking at the Alpine 9847 and 9851 headunits. Opinions?

Any advice would be great since this definetly an area I don't know much.

This what I got.
Here were my reasons for buying the Kenwood KDC-MP828
3 Line Display (36 characters per line)
RMS (Radio Data System) tells you what songs are on FM stations.
AC Codec. Allows you to vary how MP3 are arranged for play.
Sirius tuner box is under driver's seat.

You're right. I'm at work now with a functional 15 inch monitor

I like them. However I got a Kenwood KDC-MP628 for $171 on Ebay and I love it. You have to find what you like best.

i have a pioneer deh-4600mp... i think thats the right model... i know its a 4600, just not entirely sure about the rest of it. anyways i really like it, although im a little tired of it. at night the screen is just a little TOO blue. ive also purchased the newer version, the deh-4700mp ($170), for a friend. they changed this version to a black background. also, ive had some experience with a panasonic cq-c5401u ($200 @ crutchfield). i like the options that this headunit has, as well as the motorized faceplate, which allows you to angle it for better vision. i put this one in my friends car. he wanted a realitively cheap headunit that could still produce, and i think this one worked out well for him

It has both front and rear rca outputs, the headunit allows you to set the crossover points on both front and rear outputs. I have my front channels set to crossover at 150 hz and the back set to subwoofer crossover points at that frequency. Very flexible! It does not have a dedicated 3rd output for subwoofer out. But, like I said, it allows you to turn the rear outputs into a Sub only output.
