going from brights to dim headlights shuts down audio
1996 tacoma.
When going from brights to dims (I have blue lights...came on the truck when I got it)
All the audio shuts down. The stereo still has power, but the speakers don't get any juice. When I turn the truck off it resets everything and everything works. It just did this tonight coming home, so I haven't had the chance to go thru everything yet, but I wanted your guys input first.
Thanks in advance
Edit: I have a sub in the truck as well if that might have something to do with it.

is it a single din or a double din radio? if its a single din, check to make sure that the dimmer wires are not hooked up to the truck. that can sometimes cause ground issues. is the radio going into "protect" when the speakers shut off? and what brand radio is it?

The radio is a pioneer, not sure the specific type, again, it take with the truck. And I have full functions on the stereo after speakers shut down. Im not sure about the single or double dim, but I will pull the stereo and check the ground wires.

Not the ground. Most likely the accessory wire is tapped into 12v line for the headlights. Often times in these trucks the accessory wire has to be sought out from another location and if the installer just grabbed any 12v lead, that can cause lots of trouble with what would normally be not radio related issues.
