93 xtracab audio help!

So I bought a 93 22re 4x4 extracab pickup recently. As you can see in the pics, the previous owner upgraded the stereo and mounted bigger rear speakers into the storage box. But unfortunately, the front speakers don't work at all, and when I opened it up they weren't even wired. I assume this was intentional, but it sounds pretty crappy with only the 2 rear speakers. I really like having good audio, but I don't know anything about wiring car stereos. Is there any way I can get these front speakers wired up easily? I looked up the wiring colors for this model and it says the Left Front should be pink/violet, but the photo shows those wires plugged into the red/black and going to the speakers in the ba

ck. I don't see any free wires to attach to the front speakers, so I'm kind of clueless. Any help would be awesome!!

Looks like he might have abandoned the front to go to the rear, my 91 single cab was not wired for the rear so I had to run them. What kind of head unit? I would just run some speaker wires to the front channels and see how it sounds.

Heres the stereo. Seems to be a popular one.

I would pull the deck out and see if the previous owner used a harness adapter or hacked the harness, if the adapter is in place I would take the front wires you have pictured and hook those up for the front channel/speakers, then the wires that go to the back run new wires and tie them into where you take them off the fronts and extend to the rear channels to the deck itself, the rear channels out of the head unit harness should be purple and purple black. Good time to start learning on stereo wiring. With you tube and some time you’ll have 4 speakers in no time

So I pulled out the deck and am still pretty confused by what I found. Looks like someone went through and rewired it all, and maybe did a pretty bad job? Should I try to rewire this thing from scratch? Not even sure what half these wires are going to!

Yes, crappy job by PO. Looks like the harness was cut and tapped into so at this point it is what it is. If you want to keep it simple I would at the least go to an auto part store and buy some more butt connectors a crimper and some female spade connectors to reconnect to the front speakers, get rid of the electrical tape. Then all you would need is a little speaker wire to re-run to the front speakers. From the pics the white wires that are taped off are your front channels.

Here is a standard pic of speaker wiring.
