05 runner HU dash kit?

Does anyone make on that fits yet? I want to install my alpine and hookup my iPod to it's interface but I'm having trouble finding a dash kit to fit an '05.

(as an aside i have the stock base stereo so I'm good on that front.)

Isn't it the same as the 03-04 ones available on the market?

Yeah. I got one. (i'd read somewhere that they changed the size of the hole slightly bet '03 > '04.) Anyway. Lance did you have the upgrade system in your rig (JBL and all that jazz?) Mine is stock and there is a third input harness: looks like 20-pin compact like the 12-pin CD Changer input. Any idea what it is?

nope i replaced the stock HU w/ an old pioneer HU from back when I had it in my other car from 1993!!! haha it works and is a bit better than stock so I'm not complaining

no CD changer just a cd HU w/ my amp powering my stock speakers! Now that's called budget sound system. The audio is a bit lacking but w/o any additional funds it's not happening anytime soon.

cool. That's pretty much my plan for the moment. Just throw in my old alpine (old is about 1 year in '95) and hook up the iPod interace. That should be all the "system" i need for now. Honestly I must be getting old, b/c the system has plenty of range for me, it's be cleaner too with the nicer HU. Cheers. I'll post any snags I encounter. No wammies, no wammies. - M

Exclamation '05 HU replace: mid-install help needed

big surprise i've got a question. The oem wiring harness adapter package labels:
orange/white = Dimmer
orange = illumination

However the actual harness adapter has (wires labeled):
orange/white = 'positive dimmer'
orange/blank = 'negative dimmer'

The crux of the matter is that my alpine only has an illumination lead.

so which do I use?

Got it (multi-meter have purpose!?) it's the orange/white wire on the main (larger) Metra wiring harness adapter.

Followup. +/- dimmer lead?

Essentially I hooked the illumination lead up to the positive dimmer from the stock setup. It's illuminated all the time (which if I recall properly it was before). However, perhaps if i hooked it up to the neg. dimmer lead it would work with the dimmer?

Alpine HU... not sure what model offhand, if that helps.
