possibly dividing 4 runner forums?
This is a great site. I was just thinking maybe to make it better the 4 runner froums could be divided into 84-89,90-94 or whatever the second genration is and so on. It might make it easier and more effieicent for everyone. Where would i donate some $ to get it started? I don't have much to donate but if people chipped in alittle here and there it'd help out alittle. just a thought. Mull it over.
Oh by the way u could probadly include and not have to separate the trucks. since basically that justs a cab and box that's the main differance. u know what i mean. Don't get me wrong thought this is a really great site.

Sounds like another great plan to dilute content.
86-95, 4-Runner suspensions are fundamentally the same.
95.5 to 2002 Taco and 4-Runner suspensions are fundamentally the same.
Is there really that much breadth and depth that it is hard to wade through?
Even now most of the second gens are at least 10 years old, lots of people are getting rid of them instead of modifying.

Repost!!
This has been suggested in the past and will probably be suggested in the future. There is a lot of general tech that transcends the divisions you've proposed.
While this might be handy for browsing a specific section, it creates an enormous administrative effort to maintain and to go back through all of the old posts.
The search engine on this site is very powerful and rather under utilized. Personally, I dig for old threads and add on to the end of them so there are few threads to sift through.
All of the mods and admins donate our time to manage this site. However, we will gladly accept your donation. Donations go to keeping the site advertiser free (notice - no banner ads or popups). Look at the bottom of most of the pages, there is a button you can press to direct you to the donation page.

It ain't broke...so don't mess with it.
Mike is right. A lot of us have experience with multiple years and generations. Many times, problems and fixes are cross generational. Fragmenting the board would ruin it.
RE: SAS. I haven't found the limits of my current suspension yet and most folks haven't either. IFS will get you in and out of most situations. And if you find something it won't do, get some boots and a pack and take a hike.

As Cebby stated above, this topic has been brought up numerous times, and we like the board the way it is functioning now.
I have seen a few other boards where they have seperate sections for:
lifts
tires
wheels
wax,
ect, ect, and by gens.
It is simply to many boards to maintain, and as stated, a lot of the info can apply to all gens in one section.
The less sub forums here the easier it is to maintain.
I thought I was pushing it by adding the Computer sub forum under Off Topic, but since we all access the site here by some type of a computer, it was a good call as that section has really taken off due to the fact a lot on here know their stuff about PCs, and the info can be of real help.

Well as a newcomer here, I don't have much right to ask for anything. But I have noticed that the 4th gen stuff is a bit hard to separate out from the bulk of the posts. The 4th Gen does not seem to have a lot in common with previous generations. I love this forum for it's community, but I sometimes think a separate place for 4th gens would be nice from an ease of use perspective.

Welcome to the forum, and i think that idea wouldnt work as well because i think that there are only about a total of 15 mabye more 4th genners here, and also, while there is quite a lot different, there is a bunch that is the same, like batteries and other modes, and some of the other guys can help us out with our troubles. Personally i love the joint board, cause i love learnin more about other cars too.

While YT certainly caters to the 3rd gen crowd, there is certainly invaluable information for every gen here to be found, as I now own a 1st gen that I'm modding and a great deal of that info came from here as well. Most the information though does lean towardst the "off-road" variety, but that is just the nature of the beast.
If you are searching for a forum that caters mostly towards mini-vans, I mean 4th gens,
then try www.t4r.org

I know with the smileys and such you were joking, but that sort of thing is a turn off new users.
