How many would like to see the "Featured Member" feature again?
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f144/
The above section I have to admit was a Royal PITA to maintain, and I ran out of free time to keep it running.
I had to contact several members at once to see if they wanted to participate, and some did not want to give out their info.
It was very time consuming to say the least, and I was not happy with the format of it either.
I would like to run this again starting sometime in 2009, but a much better format.
YotaTech can host the pictures here via the Gallery we have, or I can host them.
What I would like to do is a "interview" type of format where we ask some questions about your rig, where you like to wheel, do other stuff with your rig, ect...
And this would run for a month at a time, not a week like before.
There would be a link on the homepage to the section where the interview would reside.
How do we choose who gets elected?
Good question, and I am open to suggestions on that.
We can discuss that here in this thread.
Your interview of course would contain a few pictures of your rig, and other photos too of hobbies you might be involved in.
It is not just about the Toyota, it is about you too.

Not much input here.
Lemme give an example, and I will interview myself as an example
Below could be a standardized set of questions asked for the member who gets picked.
And of course we would include some photos of your rig too, or other photos of what you enjoy doing.
So is there any interest in doing something like this or not, or forget about this until sometime in the future?

Corey, where are your favorite places to get off road, explore, or camp?
Corey:
Since I live not far from Greenwater, I would say that area.
It is the gateway to Mt. Rainier and Eastern WA., and there is a vast amount of terrain to explore up there.
Tons of free camping too in the Greenwater area, and Mt. Rainier National Park is just up the road with some of the best camping I have ever experienced in my many years of camping.
YotaTech:
Can you give us a list of some of your favorite mods you have done to your vehicle?
Corey:
I have so many, its getting hard to keep track
But the ARB bumper, OME lift, winch are starters, so I will try and list some of them here.
Cargobox
ARB fridge/freezer (modified so the lid now opens from the side)
Maggiolina AirLand roof top tent, Camping Lab awning
Yaesu 857D ham radio, Cobra CB radio, many more mods you can look at by looking at my website in the mods section of my buildup thread here on YotaTech.
YotaTech:
What are your goals with your rig?
Corey:
It has to be very street drivable since it is my daily driver and only vehicle, but my end game plan with it is to build it up for expedition/overlanding type use too.
Something I can leave packed up with my camping gear and take off after work on a weekend, or take a week long or more vacation with it and be fully self contained and not have to take on anymore supplies while out in the wilderness.
My rig is almost there, I just have a few more mods to complete on it to get it to what I have been wanting to achieve with it.
YotaTech:
What magazines do you enjoy reading in your spare time at home or when away from home?
Corey:
I like reading about hobbies I am interested in, so I would say Overland Journal, 4WD Toyota Owner, and CPU magazine since I am very much into computers too.
The above three magazines pretty much keep me current on what is going on in what interests me.
Then of course there are the numerous forums I surf to catch up on what interests me too.
YotaTech:
Besides doing stuff with your rig, what do you enjoy at home when away from work?
Corey:
I enjoy staying in touch with my two sons.
I play PC games with them online, yak with them online when they are not over here at my home.
Its a little hard to see my oldest son, as he is in the Army and stationed clear across the states at this time.
He is here on leave right now for a few weeks, so I have got to spend a good amount of extra time with him and my younger son too.
I also enjoy my new home theater I have been piecing together.
During these winter months it is pretty nice to kick back on a weekend night and enjoy a good DVD or show in HD.
I also enjoy playing Unreal Tournament 3 online against other players, it is a lot of fun.
I have been into PC gaming for quite a few years, and have a few friends who are into it too besides my sons.
YotaTech:
What are some of your favorite places to eat out at?
Corey:
I would say any good Mexican restaurant.
Round Table Pizza is good too, but I normally order that for delivery.
But going out for dinner Mexican usually ends up winning.
YotaTech:
Thank you Corey for taking the time with us.
We will include some of Corey's photos he has taken, and also links to his website and his buildup thread he mentioned earlier.

Yes, I think it is a cool idea, and I like it much more than the featured rig of the week we use to do.
This offers up much higher resolution pictures, and more detail.
Only thing I am
about is how do we pick a person each month?
There can be a link on the homepage pointing to each months interview too, and of course all past ones would be here too in a section setup for this.
And we could appoint someone to do the interviews, and it does not have to be a staff member either if a member is truly interested in helping out.
The pics can be emailed to me and I will host them.

mayybe we could just have people submit there own and you pick one ever week...
it must contain for example
10 of these 20 questions answer ,10-20 pictures of the rig
details of rig ... ect

Well we could get interested members to "sign-up", answer the questions and submit pics, then we have the computer "lottery" the submitted names to pick the next mos. winner... the ? responses are checked for content and edited if needed and up it goes...
