Definition of Ironic...

We go to all of the trouble to steer people to the "Search" button... we make it yellow, it blinks, Mark posts elaborate, tongue in cheek posts about how nice it would be to be able to search....

Then, when the search button is well used, we put a limit on it's use and scold the user with this;

This forum requires that you wait 15 seconds before submitting another search. You have 12 seconds to wait before another search will be allowed.
So I search instead of making another useless post to ask a common question, I get penalized for reading fast...

Harrrrrrrrummmmmmmmppphhhhh!

While ironic, I do believe it's purpose is to limit spamming of the search function and biggong down of the bandwidth/database. This way, a script cannot be executed to run the search 100 times a second.

There's a HUGE difference between once in 15 seconds and "100 times a second".

Perhaps I was too subtle in my original post... What I was hinting around at was that 15 seconds seems like an excessive period of time, not to mention that there are better ways to limit traffic both via PHP and SQL.

I will endevor to be more specific next time hahahhahahhah

I cheat , on broadband hit refresh and hit search cuts the wait down to about half and keeps me doing something other than lookin at a 15 second wait limit screen.
