Email Notifications

The only notification I get from Yotatech is when I get a Private Message. I get no emails when I get an update to a "thread".

I dont know what's wrong. I used to get updates from threads all the time.

I get updates all the time daily, in fact several.
Check your junk mail filtration, and make sure the updates are for instant email notification, and not once a day.

He hit the nail. You have ot revisit a thread in order to have your e-mail notifications return.

True, that is how it works.
If you do not revisit the site here after the first email notify, you are not going to get anymore.

This is how the VB software works.
Other software you get the notifies all the time which can be very annoying.

Well, revisiting any thread that you're subscribed to on the forum (that has new messages in it) will re-start notifications for ALL subscribed threads.

e.g., Say I'm subbed to 10 threads, 5 die out, and 5 get new posts. I only have to revisit ONE of the 5 that got new posts in order to get new notifications for any/all of them.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's not enough to just come into the forum through the normal login and "touch" the thread. You have to use the link in the notifications email (the one that ends in "&goto=newpost") for it to reset the "end notifications" flag. OR - you can come in through login then post into a thread that you're subscribed to and have gotten a notification from.

It seems a bit weird, but like Corey implied, the mechanism is there in an attempt to not let the forum software become annoying with notices. The phpBB forum software is very similar in this regard.

The subscription part was what I was missing. Didn't know how to subscribe. Did a search and found it but thanks for all the good info.
