Yes, it IS annoying. However, it used to be 30 seconds...which was downright painful.

My vote is for 5 seconds.

then cut it to 10

20 is painful at times

i usually end up refreshing the "please wait" page to see it count down

Scott had it set that way when he was debugging the forum after upgrading us to the newest VB software.

I can see if it can be lowered since the server seems to be running very well now.

It was actually at 3 seconds for a little while there wasn't it? I was in heaven. I have a bad habit of managing to double click the "new posts" button which throws me off completely and I also sit there refreshing the page to see how long I have left.

You are welcome.
And that other feature we had where it shows similar posts at the bottom of each thread, that may be tuned back on later as well.

It is server intensive, and we are trying out different things here to see how the speed is.

I bet the forum is working a lot better for you though than it was a few weeks back.

I agree, its also really annoying if you post then go to hit new posts-does the same thing!

Scott installed a new search engine, and has had great success with it on other forums he sets up:
1) Search delay time has been dropped to "0" seconds, no limits.
2) Minimum Word Length for search is "2", and yes can you type "94" and get results.
3) Instead of limiting to 200 results, your now limited to 1000 results
Let us know how it works for you.
