I really like the hardcore section and thought it was a great idea. The only drawback I saw was that every time I'm in the forum, I'm like the only one browsing it. That kinda sucks and makes me wonder if I should post in the offroad section. But there's usually like 1 to 5 people in there. That's why I say combine them and make a Bling section. Everyone seems to be in the 4 runners and trucks section talking about everything, from lockers to stereos. Let me finish by saying that The Hardcore section is my favorite by far....

I'm with Rob on getting the 20" rims and clear corners into their own section. That wax system Corey keeps raving about just made my rust look like crap.

Wax on wax off
Actually if we blend them, it would be easier to move the posts from the Hardcore section to the 4x4 section, as there are less to move.

If that does happen, yes, a new name can be made for the section.

We already have the "4Runners, Trucks, & SUVs" section, and that area comprises of talk about wax, 20" wheels, best way to keep the running boards looking black, stereos, ect.
There are also a lot of 2WD folk's and Pre-Runners in there too.

If we combine the other two sections that are in the poll, that area would indeed be for the discussion of the stuff like lockers, Marlin Crawlers, axle swaps, SAS, body armor, and all the current stuff from the two forums now.

Instead of having to open up each of the two forums in the poll, all that info would be in one place, making it easier.
That's just my Epinion, and that is why the poll and this post exist so we can get feed back.

It's the membership's forum here as well, and we want to make this a great place to learn, teach, and research stuff about Toyota rigs.

We have had a lot of ideas here such as even having a separate Tacoma forum, but members felt it was best to leave as is since the 4Runner and Taco share quite a bit.
We don't want to be like all the other forums out there with multiple categories that don't see much action.
Even our Land Cruiser area is not seeing much at all.
Some things just don't catch on, maybe that area will in the future.

PS, I agree lcopelan, the stereo talk should remain in the SUV area, but talk about lockers would be better off in the Off Roading area.
We have descriptions for the sections, but not everyone pays attention to the area in which they post.

Dude! You made me snort gatorade out my nose! That's the funniest thing I have read in days

:

Has anyone noticed that when you click on the "chairfall" emoticon in the menu to the left of the input box, it inserts ":*chairfall " into your text without the trailing ":", but it works?

The bigger issue, I think is the monstrosity that the 4Runner, SUV and Truck forum has become. IMHO, this one needs to be sectioned a bit.

It would be an enormous undertaking though, and need a good bit of attention to keep things where they belong.

Here's some ideas of a few sections that could be derived from what is in the main forum:

Street and Appearance Mods
Stereos and Alarms
Suspension Mods
Wheels and Tires

How about a section called Custom Fabrication for the SAS's, tube bending, custom parts, etc. I know I'd love a separate section for that stuff. It takes forever to sift through threads at PBB to find usable info.

Just some thoughts...

The bottom line, you need the "AGRESSIVE" tech area, if you want to progress with the times. Lets face it, either you are spinning your tires in the dirt, or you are grabbing traction and going forward. I think that even though the agressive area may not get used as much, you need to retain it....

Nah, "Hardcore" to me is more of an attitude. My rig is coming together nicely, but there are a bunch of people on here who are way more hardcore than me. I have made it easier for me to take on some of the trail challenges around here, but what is hardcore to me is the folks who do amazing things with far less money invested.

As I see it, this section has a few strikes against it. There's not many on YotaTech who push the abilities of themselves and their rigs when wheeling. (not a slam, just an observation) Those of us who do read this section are geographically far away from each other, so it's not like we can get together and hang out. The section is new, so until it gains some critical mass, it's going to be pretty quiet. The very term "hardcore" is subjective. Some of the stuff I do looks hardcore to noob's on my runs, but to me, I am by no means "hardcore". I see some of the run photos on other boards and I am amazed at the stuff they call a trail. Having wheeled with Jason Demello in his IFS Tacoma, I can say I saw him do more "hardcore" stuff in that rig than I am willing to do in mine.

I appreciate what they were trying to do by creating this section, but I am not convinced that calling it "Hardcore" and leaving that undefined did it any favors... I cringe when I post here, since I don't consider myself to be hardcore as such and I am sure other don't post at all.

But, thanks for the compliment
I'm famous. weeee You say HardCore my inlaws say crazy, I say just havin fun

Compared to some of the discussions that I've seen in the other forums, this forum *IS* hardcore... But, I agree that Hardcore isn't necessarily the correct name for the forum...

How 'bout "The Fab Shop"?

I personally don't even bother with the other forums, unless I'm extreamly bored, as I have no interest in lighted valve stems, "silencer mods", which wax best brings out the color in my rig's eyes, etc. I'm interested in the custom fab that takes place here, and offer my input when I feel it's appropriate.
