Upndair's rig--- new powerplant..

Here is where I have tied 90% of the new motor into the orional harness's. This is on the passenger side where the old ECm was. Al I did was locate the needed circuits (temp/oil pressure, ect), removed the 2 body to engine harness connectors and wired it in.. I also am utilizing the stock fusable circuits so no more will be needed for the system.

I got the MSD fully wired. Here you can see the MSD noise suppressor and the ballast resistor.

Here is by the underhood fuse box. I had to dig into the fuse box to tie into the starter relay since with the shifter we will be using will have a neutral safety switch in it. So all I had to do was tie into the controling side of the relay and use the switch to toggel the ground for the realy, piece of cake.

I had to remove the rad and tear apart the front cross harness to re-route a few circuits and add a couple more (one power circuit, off road lights and in-cab winch control) After that was done, I ran the main power wire from the driver side battery over to the location of the master battery switch (still waiting for it to arive).

Here is the new fuel hardline I made from the fuel pump to the carb.

Here is the new lower rad hose (location of the hose made the fuel line tricky to do)

And here are the new heater hoses. I also got the hose to the brake booster done and the vacuum line for the intake to the modulator valve on the tranny.

At this point, I found the 14" air cleaner isn't going to fit well.

Holy crap. Why did I just see this thread now...? That is awesome Gibby!!! Your Runner has always been the inspiration for mine, and now it's even better!
Crash, awesome, awesome, awesome work! I am in amazement at how well you have put this thing together. Top quality work, to say the least. Keep it up. I will definitely be checking back often to see the progress. Good luck with everything!

Ok its been a few days, I had to take care of some other stuff but I am right back into it..
The first drive belt I got, was 1/2" too short so I got the correct one and there ya go, a drive belt (I know, I get amused by the simple/little things) finally

Ok, there is one thing that you really need when you run the GM pump, some way to keep the p/s fluid temp down. Since I am going to tap the steering box for hydro assist, that will help with keeping the temps down a little, but a cooler is still needed. Unfortunately there is just NO room down low (You always need to make sure your reservior is the highest point or fluid will drain back and overfill the res.) to mount the cooler easily. I finally ended up mouting it to the battery tray...

Ok, now it was time to put another dent in the electrical system, that being the dual battery switch (Got a nice pile of boxes this last week).
The switch location was a pain to figure out where to go. I generally like to put them under the hood, and close to both batteries, but room was becoming scarech (flat area of sheet metal). SO, I decided to build a bracket for the switch to sit on and actually turned out pretty nice I think..

Here is another goodie I got. I really like these, they are O-ring sealing and can be rotated into any position..

And here is how the Upper radiator hose turned out (haven't put a thermostat in it yet, waiting for the fan setup)

And here is how the plug wires turned out (gettin closer
)

Ok, I had 2 issues with the air cleaner. One was rubbing on the heater hoses, and the other was the bottom lip of the air cleaner, was like 1/4" from the terminals on the distributor cap. Well, we got a 3/4" spacer for the air cleaner (plastic jobbie), and I went a re-worked the heater hoses so the air cleaner fits without rubbing anything

HOLY SMOKES that's nice!
Wish I had known about that thermostat neck when I did my 4.3... very nice.

Ya, they make them I think in 3 different versions/angles. I think dale did some research on them so he might know better.
