Upndair's rig--- new powerplant..

Ok, time for some updates..
Running the powercable for the rear winch ended up being a little harder that I would had thought. I ended up drilling/tapping the frame in a few spots to retaine the cable.

And then used the fuel line to finish it off once I got past the fuel tank(which BTW was packed full of mud
)

I also fully wired in the electronic speed sensor

So I also ran the wiring inside the cab for the in-cab winch control. Now there is a problem with the main fuse that powers all the switch's. Found it was happening when the right line lock was used (direct short). So I ripped the center console out, replaced a broken line lock switch, replaced the winch switch and drilled another hole for the new winch switch and re-organized the switch's abit(so you get to figure them out again gibby--ha ha ha)
So I dug into why the fuse was blowing, and found it was actually a bad line lock (never had that happen before). For now I clipped the wire at the line lock.

To help with the brakes I installed a 2 pound residual valve in the rear portion of the system. (still gotta bleed the brakes again)

I ran the new air line for the front. The fitting pops out near the lower/driver side section of the bumper.

Due to how close the exhaust is to the frame, I chose to run the air line on the outside of the frame rail around where the motor sits and then back onto the top of the frame

And then into the fitting I added back when I mounted the rear air tank.

Now time for the last part that will require and fab work, the POS rear spare tire carrier. This poor thing has seen better days. Its actually not the carrier thats a POS, its how its mounted. That poor mounting setup was absolutly BEAT to death, so badly in fact I can't show pictures of it due to the mature graficness of it
In any case I was going to try and just rebuild what was there, and it would have been pretty easy that way. BUT, in my way of doing stuff, and the fact that gibby would like to actually carry a big spare on it, I said to heck with it and cut all the crap off the bumper :d

Ya know, its kinda funny when you think about stuff, and how easy it is to A)think about it WAY too much and totaly stress yourself out or B) think its going to be way to complicated to build. I don't know why, but ÅÅÅÅ just always seems to pop into my head(but find doing A quite often). So, I grabbed some tube, and the whole setup just popped into my head..
Since the upper tube where it wraps around the body was cut, I figured out how to tie it all together and make it stronger..

So once the lower mount was done, it just flew together. I plated the top of the verticle tube and that was the top of the top mount.
Here is how it turned out (even wired the lic. plate light, lol)

The carrier hits the mount/latch assy dead one..
Now the single verticle tube definately was not enough to help support the mounts so I got the bender out and made another verticle support that totaly made the whole works very strong.

Another pic of the hinge assy(need to get 2 nylock 3/4 nuts).

Here is another aspect that turned out perfect, the upper tube that I capped, works as the stop for the carrier so it doesn't open too far. And there is "just" enough room to snake the tail lamp lens assy out..

So it turned out pretty strong but due to no cross supports at the front endge of the bumper, it will whobble (but it won't fall off now, lol)

Gibby was alos having a probllem with the passenger front spring pack shifting due to the fact the inner bolts that hold the spring plate on are so far away from the springs (typically your U-bolts hug your springs so its normally not an issue). So I just welded a small riser along the springs to keep them from wanting to shift..

I need to find a yota spare tire carrierIMO, spare tire is over rated, lol. Then again, I run a bias tire and carry a large pile of plugs. You are in the same boat, the odds of you ripping one of your tires is pretty slim(beat the piss out of my old boggers-even ran the con and beat them to death down there)

Actually she wouldn't if you'd spend even a 1/4 of the time on her rig (that we bought so we could enjoy the sport together)
That you do on everyone elses. Now Get Gibby's rig outta my carport! It's making mine look small

That's off a 93 4Runner. It was the last year that they used this style carrier. I had destroyed my tailgate and had to replace it. At the wrecking yard, the only matching tailgate was the 93. I knew I needed a tire carrier so I took a look at the tire carrier that came with it. The 94 tailgate has the license plate assembly in the middle of the tailgate but the 93 has it attached to the tire carrier. So I also needed to fashion a license plate attachment and lighting to keep the rig somewhat street legal.
The 93 body has reinforcements inside the body for the tire carrier mounts, but the 94 doesn't so I had to find another way. I had originally - well, we won't go there on how I made a mount system, it's embarrasing after seeing this...

Hey Mrs Crash. I'm sure he's putting money away and getting some kewl ideas to do something unique to your rig.
LOLYou gotta take him out on a run with our club - only you get to drive your rig. Our runs might be a little more friendly to your rig than a SNORT run.

I don't do anything with snort. They've never made me feel comfortable. The first club meeting/party I went to only one person said hi to me. I haven't been back. I wasn't allowed in the "snort"section on their board until recently(and that was cause Michael finally just added me)
I went on a run with Wattora and Yotatech and had a blast though. But yes I'm not intrested in runs just to beat up the 4 runner.

Hey Mrs. C... You should come on out on the WATTORA Trail-101 class April 23rd! My normal right-seat (Shannon/Funrunner) will be there driving for just her 2nd time.
Rob's still working out where to have it, but it'll probably be Reiter.
The placeholder's here on WATTORA:
