I knew when I took it out that it wasn't completed. Now if I'd pulled it out and been told that everything was perfect - I'd be pissed, but that wasn't the situation. I'm just pumped waiting to get stage 2 underway. I do need to find an auto tranny brake pedal though.

So Crash, Just curious when my truck will be in the shop? I have now been without my truck for a year and I am about to cry!
  Now of course it was totally Gibby's fault. He said who is going to follow me! So I laid the hammer down and well sucked up lots and lots of brown water. But that should be a whole new thread. Oh, I guess it was my fault, I followed Gibby! I will have the front ARB sometime within the next couple of weeks. However, next week is the PNW meeting, so that means I will be out of town. I will be in Alaska. I do have to say though it was nice feeling that power in the mud when I got stuck and I do me stuck Gibby's 4Runner. It was a good thing he rented an excautor. I literally had to LIFT
him out of the hole I got him stuck. Crash you do a wonderful job.

Gibby's rig is coming back here within the next 2 weeks and I am also trying to get the rigs that were planned before gibby's rig was even known so I am trying to play catchup..

I am saving my pennies but I am also inching to get back in the seat again. It would kind of be like you not being in a shop or your shop for like say 6 months or so. But I do understand and this time is helping me to save more money for you. I am thinking about starting CRASH FAB 4X4 MORTGAGES! The moto would be instead of getting that house why dont you fix the 4x4 in your back yard so you can run the trails like the HAMMERS! I think we both can make money on this. You do the work and I will get someone to finance the person so that you get paid and well we are all happy! Just a silly idea. Anyways, I do understand.

Stage II
It's time for Stage II at Crash Fab!
Here's the list of things to be finished up.
First, on the repair/finish up from the Stage I
1. Install the overflow bottle.
2. Finish the wiring for the electric fan.
3. Wire up a manual switch for the accessory fan.
4. Fix the leak in the doubler and output seal on the transmission.
5. Fix a couple of minor switch issues in the switch panel.
6. Install the MSD tach adaptor to get the tach back working.
7. Power up the speedo
8. Find additional cooling for the PS pump. It was overheating when driving with front ARB engaged for more than a few minutes. I'm thinking that a little fan on the cooler, triggered whenever the front ARB is engaged might do the trick.
New on the block.
1. Customize the front bumper to accept the new Warn M12000 winch.
2. Install the offroad and driving lights.
3. Wire and mount the M8000 winch on the rear.
4. Swap in 5.13 or 5.38 gears.
I have to admit that the two most powerful changes to the wheeling capabilities are the RAM assist steering and redoing the ARB air lines, replacing the long yellow hoses with the standard blue lines. The ability to properly engage and disengage the lockers at the flick of the switch (as it's designed to work) AND be able to turn the steering wheel with ease when fully locked.
I'm not sure if I like or dislike the auto tranny. More time will tell.
The only problem I had with the carb was that the choke wasn't (and still isn't) working, and that it continued to stall going downhill. Uphill and sidehill were fine. Installation of an auto transmission style brake pedal would have really helped. Trying to 2 foot drive was challenge trying to wrap my left leg around the steering wheel to apply the brake, while keeping a little throttle going to keep it from stalling, while descending sharp inclines... EFI... HMMM??

Running with 4.10s right now. It's OK, but not nearly the get up and go that I was expecting. A rig with 330HP should be able to spin some tire and snap me back when I stomp on it. I'm going to go all the way to 5.13s or 5.38.
Don't get me wrong, it ran fine on the highway, but just not what I was thinking. Even offroad, I think the 25% improvement in gearing is going to help.

yeah im in the same boat as you then mine will throw you back in the seat but you need to rev it to around 4k then mat it and when the secondries open your gone. im seriously thinking about buliding a stroker so i can have the low end torque that I want

IMO going from 4:10 to 4:56 is a waiste of $$ and you won't hardly tell. I would go with at the very least 4:88 or what I would suggest 5:29's. But you can throw $$$ at those little diffs, I would throw them away and build something that will hold up to that motor....

the thing is that i dont wheel it that hard and havent had a problem yet proably because they are open but my uncle is trying to talk me into lc running gear what do you think ht eonly thing i see that is a problem is the diff being off center

Well gibby dropped the rig off on sunday for me to finish up so I figured I had better get to the dirty deed
. For the next week and a half it will be slow going as I have a couple other rigs to try and get somewhat finished with.
The first thing I dug into was to figure out why in the heck now the coolant fan wasn't operating correctly(gibby did a trail fix and bypassed the whole circuit). The first thing I found, was a fuse blown that feeds voltage to all the switch's. So I checked the circuit with one of my fancy gizmo's (techy word
) and found when the left hand line lock is turned on it either has a short, or the line lock is shorted. I have to dig back into that area to handle a few things so that gets put on the "to-do" list. So I ran it hot and at first it worked like a champ, but found the fan started to wig out. turn on for about 3 seconds then off. I tried bypassing the sensor(gibby replaced while he had it) and nothing. grabbed the test light and what the heck, no voltage at the main circuit breaker. So I install another one (waiting for the new one to arrive, the one thats on the rig was one of my loaners, lol) and check the amperage of that circuit and its perfect with a spike of 29 amps when the fan turns on-perfect..
