ive been slowly getting some things done. so far i just about have the a/c compressor converted to obo i just need to mount the tank. ill have pics of that tomorrow. and i also cut out a couple tubes from the bed and moved the main hoop closer to the cab now i just need to add some gussets and that will be done. heres a pic

here are some of the oba
the first one is the intake filter and oiler
next one is just picture of the hose routing
last one is the manifold and coalescing filter and the pressure switch and safety valve. the fitting that has nothing connected to it is for the line that will go to an in cab guage.

all that is left now is to mount the tank and i also need to get a check valve

i would say it is definately worth it if you take your time and do a good job. but honestly i cant tell any difference in stability because whatever weight i lost has all been added back on with the bed and fuel cell etc. i did it mainly because i like having the least amount of sheetmetal as possible plus its something different. so my advice would be do it if you can take your time and get every little detail right but dont do it if you cant

Well i was hoping it would be a little more stable in off camber situations.
I was also hoping that putting leafs in teh back would help too.
I guess maybe some wider wheels would be best.

Hey ive been looking at your rig again..
Really want to do this.
I got an idea.
Well something i am going to try to do if i get this done.
What about putting some plating up from the frame to that side bar.
That way you wouldn't see that gap and you would have some more storage room...

actually i plan on doing that one of these days. i planned on doing it right when i got the bed done but i keep finding other things to do so it keeps getting pushed back. as for stability the leaves in the rear made a big difference

Dude all i can say is WoW that is awesome but i liked it with the bed and my question is about how much did it cost to do just the bed before you chopped it off
and how long did it take you to do it. Also was it just you doing the work or did you have someone else helping you and what skills would someone need to do this.
Thanks,

pretty much what was said above for the skills part
i probably had about 40 hours into it when it still had the bed. it really didnt cost anything because i already had sheetmetal and all of the welding and grinding stuff, actually i think the only thing i bought was seam sealer and bondo. i got the back of the pickup for $50

I'm half way through the roof chop, leaving the bed, as I am a carpenter/welder, and need the bed space. I found though that once you cut off below the side windows into the 1/4 panel, that it will be nightmare for someone new to this kind of mod. there will be lots of cutting, fitting, recutting, and refitting the sheet metal to form the sides of the bed. if you want it to come out looking decent, TAKE YOUR TIME! dont rush through the build! you will like the finish better, i gurentee it! I myself have about 25 hours in allready, and I'm 1/2 way through reforming the sides of the bed. best of luck to all! And thanks for the advice 4rnnr33! its comming out sick!!!
