The comealong is on the nose of the frame to keep it from spreading apart (missed putting the new cross member in place before playing with the plasma cutter -- DOH!!

The hood is the original hood from my Land Cruiser, being used as a spark control system

Ah, I didn't know Tacos don't have the front-most crossmember that the older trucks do. I was assuming something like that about the hood, cause otherwise if it were me I would have tossed it outside by now. Thanks for the explanations, now I gotta go get me some more popcorn.

This is by far the coolest way to do a write up that I've ever seen. Or whatever you want to call this webcam thing. Sweeeet!

How much lift are you shooting for?

What are the front springs?

Why aren't the shackles through the frame, likely I am just unaware of some part of the Taco game that makes it a necessity.

Looking great and the idea with the web cam is pretty awesome.

The front springs are Rancho 44044's.

There isn't a good place to put the shackles through the frame since it's a reversed shackle system with the shackle in the back of the front springs. So, we us a shackle hanger mounted near the back of the spring. That's what ChrisCo is working on now on the passenger side of the truck while I finish weld the front spring hanger. ChrisCo is wearing white, I am wearing orange or blue, depending upon whether I have my sweatshirt on.

Thanks for the good words on the webcam. It has been fun to read the feedback from those who are looking in on us.

exactly, the taco frame flares out and the shackle hangars are welded from about the middle of the framerail over to line up with the front.

edit: heres a good pic from toy4x4.net, http://www.toy4x4.net/sas/PIC00465.jpg

Our hope is to have the springs on tonight, then fit the axle tomorrow. Ideally it will be sitting on the axle tomorrow night or Tuesday, then if all goes well, it will be under it's own power around Thursday.

Thanks for the enlightenment on the shackles, I have never really paid attention to it and thought it worth a query.

All the old trucks shoot the shackles through the frame, I suppose that saves on some of the lift height. How far are you going to end up over stock?

The object is to end up exactly where I was with the IFS, just a shade under 9" over stock.
