Project Budget Exocage

Started on my long road today. I got this delivered to the house for $243.

The cage was made for a mid 80's toyota without a bed. I need to make this fit my 88' 4runner.

I put on a coat of primer so I don't get any rust. I guess I'll do this in sections.

I think I'll use the scraps of the rear section to make a set of rock sliders for the sides. Now all I need is a bender, a better welder, Wabfab for a weekend and a million dollars to finish the rest of the truck.

Might want to consider a cowl bar for some support up front.

I'm surprised it didn't have one. I have to find some more tubing for that.

Everywhere? Or which spots? I've never built one.

Any other suggestions would be great! Anyone know a good tubing distributor?

Considering the price of tubing, my lack of a bender and the low delivered price, I think I got a good start on this.

I remember when tubing was $1.20 a foot not even 3 years ago. Got quoted $8.50 a foot the other day. Craziness. Nice find!

Thanks! Yeah the only quote I've gotten was $100 for 20 feet, but you have to get 100 feet min. I might tr to go in with someone else, I don't know that I'll need that much. And as the title says I'm on a budget.
