Ok getting ready for SAS !! YAY!
Ok,
I am looking for a axel, I really need some input on this subject
I have a 1996 4Runner
Do i just need a Dana 44?
Is there something I need to make sure of?
Umm, not sure what to ask
I do know a toyota Axel will not work is the round thing is on the wrong side LOL...

D44 with stock Waggy springs results in about 6" over stock.
D44 with Rancho 44044 springs results in about about 10" over stock.
you need to talk to Dave Delaney, aka 44Runner. he has completed a D44 swap on his 4Runner.

44Runner pretty much gave the low-down on d44's.
I also went to check out a d44 for a friend.

I just reread that thread and one thing that looked like it was brought up but not covered was bolt pattern. Wagoneer axles have the same pattern as 4x4 yotas (6 on 5.5) so that is another reason they are a good choice.
The width of a 3rd Gen rear is supposedly 60"
Waggy front width is 60 or 61, I have heard both. I think I measured mine once but forgot the number i got, it was probably 60.5"

You might want to look up JDemello since you are in California. He's got a D44 lying around that is perfect for your runner as I got it according to 44Runners specs. I bought it and sold it to him with my 96 runner. I dont think he plans on doing a SAS anytime soon, so he might be willing to part with it.
