Talking with Rob, the starter of supracharged and my savior for figuring this all out, he started blowing up rear ends when he put a REAL turbo on his truck so thats gotta get replaced likely before i do a turbo that powerful. Its nice to keep things all toyota but they just dont make a rear end strong enough. Since ill be using nice electronics to control everything however i can set that turbo for a very mild setting and get 300-350 HP out of it in the range of 10-15 psi with some 550 injectors or so. I think the peak with a great tuning for max boost of 20+ psi and ~7-800ish injectors would be well above 500hp, but thats insanity in a big truck, maybe if it was stock height or even lowered with street rated drag tires. . . .

Here's a project Rob started last year and hasnt worked on in awhile. Maybe someday there will be some nice vids of it going down the track. He is running a 67mm turbo.

10 second 1/4 mile pickup truck


Now for something REALLY fun check this out. He lives like an hour from me and i still havent gone to see the drag truck. I just never think about it when i have free time. I've talked with him over email several times. He also has an older pickup w/ a 7MGTE in it as well.

2JZGTE street legal drag Taco

Yes you read that right, the taco is street legal with normal tires on it.

Took some time off from studying for exams and worked in the garage. I was very suprised how much i got done in just 2 hours work. Tuesday after my last exam is over I'll pull off the timing belt and remove the head.

yea, im going to get gas for it ASAP. I've never welded anything before so its gonna be a learn as i go experience. I'm getting some good books for reference though.

its a 140. I wanted to get the 175 but it cost quite a bit more when i need the cash to work on my truck for now, and i figure if i get confident enough in my welding skill to want to weld structural pieces instead of just sheet-metal i can sell this two or three years down the road and get a 210. For now i really just need it for intake and exhaust tubing and re-doing my firewall and tranny tunnel.

got the head off today, i had lots of up close pictures of the pistons/valves/cylinder walls but for some reason the computer wont read any of them off the card except the last picture which was just an overall shot. . . ., and its almost midnight and ive been up since 6am so im dog tired and too frustrated to take new pictures. Bottom line is, i dont know much about what it SHOULD look like but what i've got doesnt look good to me. Ohh and head bolts are a BITCH to get off, i had TWO 8inch extensions and a 12inch piece of pipe on the wrentch and i STILL had to lean all my body weight into it to break the bolts loose. I had to have a helper hold onto the motor because i was turning the whole engine stand.

I got the same compressor and kit, except I got the upright version. It's very good for a home garage. Probably the best bang for the buck in the compressor world.

Looks good man; take your time and do it right the first time. I really enjoyed my 7M rebuild, particularly since I had never done anything even close to this complex to a car engine.

I used all new OEM Toyota bearings and seals, had the block and head milled for a Cometic metal headgasket, used new Toyota crank main bolts and ARP rod and cylinder head bolts. I also went with Ross forged pistons but now I regret that decision a little. Granted, the motor is fully bulletproof now, but stock pistons hold tons of power, are cheap and they are much quieter than forged.
