Looks good! Appears a little thinner than normal, but it's better than nothing. Good thing it's a bolt on or you wouldn't be able to take out your 3rd member. Mine is a weld on and has a bend to allow 3rd member removal. I think the downey one has the bend as well.

how do you mean thinner? its all 3/16" material!

i dont like the total chaos or the downey ones because of that bend. it makes it a pain to attach a skidplate. that and the downey one is $50+shipping. the welder will pay for itself before long!

What was your procedure for drilling the mounting holes in the frame? I've had the Downey brace kicking around my garage for about 5 years. I went to drill the mounting holes and saw what I had to go through - and was worried about not being able to drill through the frame.

Rockstomper used to sell these, but for some reason stopped.

Are you planning on selling these?

Thanks

steve, drilling through the frame was the most difficult part of the operation. i used 3/8" bolts on mine, so i just chucked up the 3/8" bit, clamped the brace into place and then drilled a hole, put a bolt in, drilled another hole, etc.

im not the worst welder, but im not the best. im not certified or anything. for me, my welds are fine, im steadily getting better; for others though, there is an inherent liability. IMHO, i couldnt be an honest business man charging money for a potentially inferior product. so maybe someday if i get certified i would be willing to sell these.

Besides Downey, does anybody else make a bolt on IFS brace?

You could contact Rockstomper. Who knows, they could maybe be persuaded to make another one...
