i tried the UK too, the place i tried said no they didn't have any. lets hope you have better luck. I'm still trying to get my buddy in Japan to hook us up. I've even called a friend in Melbourne to see if they even offered the Hilux Surf/4Runner down under, or if they just have the Prado....
man, we're hunting all over the world for this damn thing!

If it were me and I didn't go w/ a reinforced body mounted pathfinder rodeo swing out I would weld and brace a spot to the bumper if not enough room or just hinge the bumper itself and do a swing out. That or if I could get around it throw the spare in the back

That's what I do now, and I don't like it. Drops mpg significantly, raises center of gravity, takes up storage space. Plus, a 285/75/16 spare is damn heavy to get up and down if you need it.

Want to start making the "new" tire carrier. I can weld it locally. This would solve my problem. Would anyone else be interested???

The under the truck one is only going to work if your rear bumper gives you the room.

Basically the only way to get it up higher is to use the 1" your body lift gave you.
The tire goes right to my bumper, it was designed to hold a 35 under there.
You should also switch to a late 1980's chain based winch, becuse that cheapie cable thing they gave all of us will strip the gears out.
Yeah, I can make a spare carrier, but I can't say what will happed with peoples rear bumpers. I would imagine that no matter what you could put a 285 under there.

i've got a 285 under there w/ my stocker. i have to remove the valve stem, sit on the ground, crank like hell on the winch/lift thingy while pushing the tire w/ my feet to deflate it some and also while the tread is wet so it will slip up into position. not fun, but doable. i also have a nice shiney spot on my panhard bar from it rubbing on the tire...
