First gen bumper mounting

Need some help I picked up a TJM bumper from a 2003 hilux best part it was FREE so now is the fun part fabing up a way to mount it to a first gen as most of you know the 2003 hilux is IFS first gen not so much. I was wondering if people could post on how there first gen bumpers are mounted just to give a good starting point.

This is mine. But by reading and searching I find allot of folks on here beef up the front cross member.

Thanks for the idea I want it to be as strong as possible and you also are missing one key thing Solid Axle LOL. See the bumper I have would almost bolt strait up to your frame my cross member is further back. Im going to try and post pictures and measurements. My fear is its not going to be strong enough to support the winch and or pulling on the bumper.

The front crossmember of the early IFS frames and the SA frames are the same up till 95ish (in the US anyway, not sure where you are.) They attach by the 4/6 holes in the front of the cross member.

Like mentioned above the front of the frames are weak, and if you plan to do any winching, plating the frame would be a good idea to stop the nuts from pulling out under load.

Got pictures of the bumper your trying to mount?

Heres the front of my frame, braced with a 4xinnovations brace and a Sky front leaf hanger.

Even the newer vehicles I always reinforce the front section .

I run a piece of 3/8" either angle or flat depending just what I am Doing across the front bolting it where the front tie downs are.

I use a Common sense approach and figure just what the end use is going to be.

I guess if you don`t have the tools to make your own parts then buying the ready made parts is not to bad.
