So what is the estimated turn around on the driveshaft?

Now I just need to put them on...and Rover is ready to roll

 

Marc I thought you said they would not balance the shaft for you?

They did end up balancing it too, but I am a little concerned about the amount of "up" travel it has....

How much is average? I will bolt it up tomorrow and get an exact figure.

 

i have about 2" of 'up' travel in mine. i think it's fine...

 

Tied up some loose ends today..

secured my brake lines with springs (thanks pirate4x4)





Installed my new rear driveline. When I took off the old one I found the cause of some of my vibration issues and small leak from transfercase....the transfercase flange was loose!! I have less vibration now than I have had for a very long time.





I also talked to the company that lengthened my front driveline and after looking closely at it they told me that it was perfect and bottoming the driveshaft out would be nearly impossible.

 

time to go hit the trail Marc. nice work bud.

 

I am itching to go...still need to deal with my pitman arm issue.

Mike- do you have clearance issues with the pitman arm hitting the steering arm? Can you post a pic of that area?

marc, i'll try and take some pics of mine for you in the next day or two. i don't have any clearance issues with mine, but i am running the TG springs. your main leaf is a yota rear, right? the TG springs don't move the axle up as far as rears, so that's probably why... or at least part of it.

 

My top 3 leaves are Allpro, and the bottom 3 are from the stock leaf pack. I dont think it moved the axle up more than 1.5 inches.

I will probably move my steering box, but I would rather not.

 

oh really? yeah, those shouldn't move your axle more than like 1.5-2" forward. i wonder why you're having clearance issues and i'm not... i mean, mine are close, but they don't hit at all. that's weird. i would move the steering box too. it's a bit of a project, but if you do it right (plate and sleeve frame), you'll have both the clearance you need and it'll be strong as hell. also, you can orient it and put the pitman arm at whatever angle you want.

 

Today I figured out my recent vibration/popping noise problem...went to retorque all my bolts and found the wheel bearing retaining nuts loose...the bearings must have seated. Glad I checked before I go out wheeling.

Everything else is good....just need that pitman arm to show up....

 

i had the same thing happen on mine... what rebuild kit did you end up going with? glad you found it before you took it out on the trail.

 

I got the Trail-Gear kit with new wheel bearings....I am glad too

 

same here. i had someone on the board tell me his wheel bearings from TG fell a part on him... i'm starting to get concerned about mine. hopefully they don't do the same thing...

that was the first i had heard. i havent had any problems yet... but we shall see.

as the person who assembled marcs axle...... i saw the bearing and they were i believe koyo bearing which are what come stock just tighten it down and then drive it..... i've heard that with new bearings that it is sometime neccesary to re torque them like 2 or 3 times
