bumper build-up...
well i decided to finally build bumpers for the Runner. i started the front on friday... and it should be done wednesday. then i'll start the rear. anyways, the specs for the front are 2x6" .120 wall box, with 2x4" .250 wall box for the sides. i will be plating the bottom and top with 3/16" and bracing it a whole lot more. i might also add some expended metal in the middle for air to reach the tranny cooler (which needs new brackets too). here are the pics so far. i will update this as i make progress.
raw bumper before any grinding...
after some grinding, mounted on the Runner...
and i know it looks way too wide... but it's really only 2" outside of the fender on each side. and that's for wheel bars later on...

If you got that far I am sure you already know about it but I figure it is worth mentioning. A flapdisc sander for your grinder will smooth off all that rust really nicely without leaving the gouges and lines the grinder leaves. Looks good!

i paid around $135 for all the steel for both the front and rear bumpers. i kinda got lucky at the steel place though... i'll take more pics of the bumper and mounts today and post them up for you guys. i still need to gusset those mounts a bit more though...
