Are you running it to the stock airbox? or making more of a direct path? (22r(e), right?)

22re. going to the stock airbox. not in the mood to play games with the mass air flow sensor.

I know from Airconditioning & duct work schools that flexible ducting (with ridges) is inherently BAD at flowing air fast. This might not be an issue here but it creates pulses that can interrupt flow and reduce efficiency. IMHO I would look closer at the first idea you had. It has great potential. Maybe an offset closet flange (what you call a toilet funnel lol) OR since your scoop is wide enough, just offset it to one side and put a screen over the front of the scoop to conceal it.......
Your doing great though! keep up the good work! i love to see thought outside the norm.

actually, the way he has it set up, it won't matter too much. this is more of an assist rather than replacement (i think?). in that case, any kind of duct work, rigid or not, would help in getting cooler air going to the air box

not sure if ridges will affect the flow or not, however, this will be 3" flow into the 2" opening in the m.a.f.. if it has an issue i will report and change the setup. as for keeping the air cool all the way to the throttle body i plan to use header wrap to stop the ducting from getting hot from the engine compartment heat. i guess its all just trial and error from here on out.

just an idea but you could use old fire hose over a wire framework.

it doesn't have to be a tight fit just somthing to keep the hose from colapsing. call me and i can explain it better.

went to the hardware store for this.

pulled the airbox and removed the stock inlet tube. there were 2 rivets that held the tube to the inside bottom of the box that will act as drain holes also since they are at the lowest point in the bottom.

drilled a 3" hole for the new tube.

to connect the tube to the box i cut a piece 3" long, glued it in one end of the 90* elbow, inserted the tube thru the box and used rubber and a hose clamp to hold it inside so it wont pull out.

gettin somewhere now right!? WRONG!! didnt even cross my mind that the air filter sits into the box which now has a tube flush with the top. STUPID! STUPID! STUPID! but wait! the filter can go in upside down and fit good enough for my peace of mind.

on to the tubing.

as pretty as it looks with the hood up heres the ugly when the hood goes down. just not enough flexibility in the hose itself.

so heres round goes round #2.

the flexibility is MUCH better.

im gonna run it like this for a bit to see if there are any problems before i glue it and trim it in final.

I'm Liking It!!!! does the bottom of the elbow rub on your valve cover/hoses/wires????
You get a big "A" for creativity!!!!

wow, how much clearance between the top of the valve cover and the hood? doesn't seem like much...

good work! i knew you'd find something that'll work. just watch for melting, seeing as it's run over top of the exhaust

i honestly cant tell with the hood closed. im sure it does a little on the vacuum hose and will keep a sharp eye for it so i can counter it. it looks to clear the valve cover by about 1/4" to 1/2" by my measurements from cutting the elbow and funnel down as much as possible where the pipe slides inside them.

the exhaust heat is my main concern now which is what made me think of the header wrap. ill get a true measurement on the clearance of the valve cover right now.

i know. but it does achieve the fact that i have a functional scoop on my truck. always wanted one. no big gain in any real way, but something cool to me. as for clearance it seems to be a little over 1/8".
