Finished smoothing out the outside, and scraped all the weld splatter off from the inside. Also welded on the frame reinforcements.

A couple quick pics, just because I haven't posted any in a while.

Hoops will be here this week, so I plan to get them installed next weekend.

Also, I ran into a small issue with the side support bolts not quite lining up. Probably due to some warpage when welding them on. So I need to fix that yet too. Then I just need to clean, prep, and paint. I'll be using POR-15 semi-gloss black paint.

When you do the POR15, be sure to do a coat of actual paint over it.
The POR is UV sensitive and will fade and come off with exposure

I couldn't find anyone local to bend the tubing for my hoops, so I had 4xInnovations do it for me, since they did a great job on my custom sliders last year.

This is what I received last week:

I worked on the hoops all weekend. Here's a pic with the center hoop tacked in place:

Then I tacked on the end hoops after a lot of trial and error fitting. But I forgot to take a picture before removing the bumper from the truck to finish welding them - Sorry! I'll try to get one in the next few days. They turned out really nice though.

Bandit.....1st of all fantastic work....you need to be my neighbor.

i like the bottom pic where the template is seen in the background.

not that i would ever plan on an endeavor such as your's, but i would like to try my hand at some welding someday soon.....certainly an art....and one that it seems you have mastered quite well.

keep the pics coming.

A little update, nothing too exciting to report, as I only had a small amount of time to work on it this past weekend. But, it is now officially ready for paint. I pre-assembled everything one last time just to check for fitments. (This included turn signals, fog lights, fairlead, rubber trim, grille inserts, and the bumper to the truck itself.) I only found a couple of very minor issues, and quickly took care of them. Here are a few pics of everything assembled:

Then I dis-assembled everything, and thoroughly cleaned the bumper with some degreaser. That's how it sits now, ready for paint.

very good work. the only thing I noticed was how tall it is, but im assuming its because of the body lift.

Well unfortunately I didn't work on the bumper one bit this weekend. However, on the positive side I finally got my SS 1.2 lift kit installed. See thread here: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/b...talled-213498/

Should be painting the bumper next weekend.

Talk about attention to detail! Very VERY nice work Bandit.

I'm looking forward to seeing how your POR-15 paint job goes during and after.
If your brushing it on, the stuff is tricky to keep smooth and uniform on plated steel. Use only high quality paint brushes and if possible, try applying it when humidity is above average...really helps it adhere and cure evenly.

Thanks, I design small appliances - mixers, blenders, etc.

Thanks for the tips, I've never used POR-15 before. I hope it works out alright.

Well, I finally got the darn thing painted. It turned out alright, but not quite as nice as I had hoped. The second coat of the POR-15 went on really thick for some reason, and I ended up with a few runs. I might try to clean them up a little this week. I'll try to post some pics soon.
