1/8 plate will work fine I think. When your welding just watch your heat settings arent too high/hot, dont weld really large sections all at once, do little bits at a time and let it cool, hop around from this end to that end etc. You wont see the inside and so you wont see any of the stop/starts, I assume you will probably gind the outside flush? Above all dont rush the welding if you get over zealous and weld it all out right away you may as well do three things... 1. prepare for a banana, 2.tell your wife it's going to take you twice as long as you thought to finish it. 3.get a good torch...

Yea i would grind the welds flush. I know not to stay in one place to long. Not to blue it. I have a little welding experiance but not much. Took some classes in college and used to work at a diesel shop but only did tacks. For warranty reasons i let others do the rest. I just finished my rear bumper its nothing special but it suits me. Its made out of C channel. Ill post a picture later if you would like.....

I'm in Langley.

I'll be putting together a rear bumper with tire carrier very soon. I ordered the steel, I'll have to start a build thread as soon as a few more parts come in.

Do you have plans for a rear bumper?
