Thanks man! It's taking a long time to make it perfect, but once it's done, I'll love it! Plus, it's the highest clearance rear bumper I've seen yet on a 3rd gen, which was my main goal. Plus, I've already dragged it on some trails. Of course the highest clearance I've had was with it completely off, but had not protection. You can't win for losing!

I'm actually headed out to Lowes and Home Depot now to see what I can find in terms of something to cover that gap. I know Bruce found something online, and I'll just wait for him to post where he got it from. But if I can get something local that would be great

After seeing Steve's original bumper, It would be quite easy to fill the gap, JC Whitney has a good assortment to choose from. Having the weather stripping also help dampen the harder blows that would cause the bumper to flex towards the body. Considering that I intentionally made my wings out of a thinner material, so as to give more on impact, it also flexes in towards the body easier, but even after I took some very hard hits, the body never sustained and damage due to the bumper.

ravencr, your bumper is comming along very nicely, as for ground clearance, I've yet to have any problems with the rear dragging to the point where it prevented me from making it across an obstacle.

It looks like the dimensions of the one you used is going to be close to perfect for my gap, and also look the most low profile. That stuff isn't cheap! Thanks for the help yet again!

I just noticed that they are designed to slide over material up to 5/32", which is just shy what mine is. Do you think it would still work? BruceTS could you try to slide a piece over a 3/16" piece of metal before I buy it and find out it's not going to work?

As far as the rear departure angle, I'm not saying that anyone elses has prevented them from making an obstacle, but I just wanted to make sure that if I designed one, I could make it high clearance as possible.

How much do you think you'll need, because I was wondering if you could bring your extra stuff and I could buy it off you at the SE4RJ? I'm just having trouble spending another $40 on that stuff just for looks. Up for it?

Your talking about a 1/32", that can simply be sanded off if your having problems fitting it.

Yeah, you're definitely right! I'm hoping to buy some of sdastg1's excess since he's coming to the SE4RJ in a couple of a weeks.

I just bought some of the weather stripping. If I can just find the time this weekend and next week to finish this sucker up, I'd be in great shape.

I wish I had them, but it's not freakin done yet! Man I wish I had a welder, because it would have been done a long time ago.
