2nd gen 4 runner 4 link

New here, was wondering if anyone has done a 4 link kit on a 4 door yet?pics? any advise?
I have started on one and already cut floor to getto the frame.I was going to mow back as far as possible, but the fender wells would end at tail lights. Plans are to keep as stock looking as possible.

Why did you chop up the floor just to get to the frame? You're going to have to do a few modifications for fitting the shocks, but why chop up a perfectly good body just to get to the frame?

just rear floor pan, will fab in a new one when the rear suspension is in.I willalso be installing racing buckets with framing attached to the frame.
The link kit is from trail-gear.
my current rig is a 85 runner, with lots of mods.nature has taken care of the rust and the trails have narrowed it in all directions.

hmm...still thinking chopping up the entire rear floorpan is unnecessary. If anything you can remove the body mounts one side at a time and weld. Or take the whole body off if you're going that crazy.

What're you doing with the gas tank?

Got any pics? I'm interested in seeing the truck and how you're doing this.

trail gear kit doesn't work on a 4Runner w/o chopping the body. Wrong way to go about it, IMHO.

I like the idea but i agree with trying to fit it and trimming the body as you go. I plan a three link in the next couple of months for my 1991 4runner and i don't think body mods are needed at all but a 4link is very nice. Are you going to run coils or coil overs?

plans to keep body past rear doors has changed.a three link kit would have kept me from removing gas tank. I allready have a fuel cell I plan on transfering from my 85 when this one is ready for final assembly. The more I look at my runner now all the major damage is behind rear wheels,to much body hangs over. All is still up in the air.may just cut it and close it back off with rear of a truck cab and tube the rest..

Post some pics up of what you've done so far. I have no idea what photo gallery you were speaking of before that you uploaded to. Post them in the thread.

I figured I'd help people out and actually show everyone where your pics are (cuz to be honest I've never ever seen anyone use the photo gallery for a build thread).

photos

Get a photo bucket account and post them in the thread because this thread is useless without pics and explanations.

Do you have a bodylift on the truck? It looks like you might but its hard to tell because there isn't a straight side shot in any of your pics.

Also, how are you mounting the shocks? and what shocks are you using?

have a photo bucket account, still need to take more pics.build is not moving real fast.
the runner will have a 2in. lift, not sure on shocks yet for the rear.may do coil over or just air shocks, leaning towards coil.front will be leaves with 14" shocks.may do a link kit later down the road.
