Hey another question, what are using for bump stops and where are you going to mount them. oh and like it was said before nice welds, My 2 cents on the water pump and timing belt job the belt is $26 and the pump is like $50 and the job would take you 4-6 hours its not really that hard just time consuming if you do it your self you may also want to do the idler pully and tensioner pully(the shop may not do this for that price so ask cause if this is included its really not a bad deal) if it is'nt included and u want to do this your self it requires you to take off the plenum so the idler pully can be removed off the intake manifold(a bigger job) but u know it was done right.

I know I should do it my self but, Im sick of not driving it, I HATE WORKING ON THE 3.0. And most of all I live in Chicago and its freakin cold. about when I started this project we had a warm up to the 40's and 50's and it has stayed until this weeked (from start to finish, the gods wanted me to do this), now its going into the teens, plus I do my work at night so its colder. Plus I enjoy modifying the truck and have had a BLAST doing this job, I dont want to now hate my truck as I wrestle with the 3.0 again. Its worth the money IMO. Let them try to do the water pump while trying to lean over the stinger. they will replace the idler pulley, tensioner and tensioner spring for that pricebut im thinking about aving them not do it and save even more $.

As for the rear bump stops I will be flexing the truck out with in the next couple weeks and then determining what I do for bump stops, there will be a full write up on this thread about it. Its not a big deal but dave at marlin wants to see what I did with there stuff. The front bumpstops will be the set up marlin includes in the kit, but I think im going to take an inch off of the extension to get more stuff, again Ill know more about that when I flex it.

to add to the shock mounting debate... mounting them like /\ makes the ride a little stiffer, as for us that do 4wheeling this is nicer for offroading. manufactures mount them like l l becuase it give the truck a nicer ride. But /\ makes for nicer ride off-road, and not too bad on road...

anyways, I love the truck man! nice sas job... I am not that creative and dont have the time for that, so i ended up with an 85, but I still like them 2nd gens

You've got that backwards. The shocks are at their most effective angle when they are perpendicular to the axle. They lose effectiveness the more they are angled. It's simple trigonometry. For example, think about how stiff the shocks would be if they are completely flat (parallel to the axle). They are completely ineffective and offer no damping at all.

Finally it left the garage on its own power! I drove it all over, it runs great, rides better than it did on the ifs, and looks awesome. Ill get some pics tomarrow.

My ghetto radiator fix didnt work I will have to plug up the holes some how. I dont know how to braze and dont have any of the stuff to it. Plus I am not sure what the radiator is made out of. But I do know (unfortunatly) that it will take a weld, therefore tomarrow I will be welding the pin holes on the rad.

How did you end up dealing with the front drive shaft angle? Have you had it up to speed in 4wd?

I dont even have the front 3rd yet, so I havent installed it. but I got a d-shaft from jessie at high angle driveline, it is u-joint at both ends, and a 12" slip yoke. from what ive read that it the best style. I was more interested in travel than road ability, bc with the front auto locker I dont want to drive it on the road in 4wd. But jessie says it will vibrate above 5mph, but I and others in this post think hes just covering ass. Alot of people have had good luck with this.

What is the BS on your wheels? I'm running 2" BS to give mine more stability. Just curious.....looks alittle narrow though. Do you like the height? I'm hoping to lower mine some. Looks good.....here's mine.

bs is either 3.50 or 3.75. the height is perfect, and I like a more narrow truck do to the terrain around here. Plus I hate the look fat tires.

BTW your truck is nice I am following your build.

Thanks...........I'm abit concerned about flopping mine, even with the 2" bs. Its only 1.5" taller than my other rig measured at the front spring hanger, I'll run it this way for awhile. Maybe I'll get used to it.
