replacing the battery cables

Any replaced the battery cables on 3rd gen? I'm talkin' abought the whole thing. The pos cable looks a little daunting, and I'd love some help since I know next to absolutely about wiring.

Thanks

You probably got this figure out by now... but was wondering why you needed to replace the positive cable?

You can get some heavy gauge wire from NAPA or a local welding supply house.

Also, search for the "Big 3" wire upgrade here on YT. It may not apply to 3rd Gens, but it's a nice mod if you are already planning on changing everything out.

Actually I haven't done it. I got some 1 gauge, but it looks like there's a harness running from the positive terminal. I don't wanna rip it apart and find out I can't put it back together. We can look at it Sunday and you can see what I'm talking about.

That's a good idea.

I am not a wiring expert either... but usually know enough to keep myself out of trouble.

Or is that know enough to get me in trouble?

I always get the two confused.

theres 3 main wires what you need to is run new power to this clicky needs to have a inline fuse then run new wire after the distro block to the alt and the starter now for the 8ga fuse box wire place a inline fuse holder then run it to the battery for ground wires look where the oil dip sick is bolted take that bolt out sand it place the new wire in and put the bolt back in now for a frame look down in between the fan and batt u will see a spot

I'm thinkin' of hittin' the you-pull-it yard near me to see If I can get one. Either use it as a model or rebuild that one with the new cable.
